Like those "facts" don't need some unskewing.

Isn't it about time that Trapp and Trunk and Grunt Romney pull a Menendez?

Dude's still lying 2 years after the election. Now that's persistence.

Respect is not the same thing as fear.  America isn't FEARED like it was during the Bush years.  During the years where unstable warmongers had their fingers on the button.

We are respected far more for not electing people like that into office again.

In how many of those countries do they consider tying your dog to the roof of your car irresponsible and reprehensible?

It's the same thing to most Republicans I know.

F*cking hell. This idiot is planning on running again, isn't he?

Some people just can't take "go away" for an answer.

Therein lies the problem.

One sure sign that he's planning on running again would be that he's still paying taxes.

Yes, but Russia isn't respecting us, and only their shirtless manliness that makes Republicans moist and creamy counts.

To be fair to the GOP, in their mind the day before Obama took office was January 19, 2000. Nothing really happened frmo 2001 to 2009.

Dammit, forgot to move the needle from "Fark 'em all: America rules everything and who cares what those other pissant countries thing" to "International approval is everything"

That means my watch is still incorrectly set to "Obama's the most ruthless dictator in human history who would feed his own grandmother to the wildebeests of the Serengeti if it advanced his agenda" instead of "Obama's a terrified empty suit who changes directions more time than a Garmin under a junkyard electromagnet"

The bolded part is the key there. Always imply some connection to the savagery of Africa when referring to Obama as part of a Republican parody. MUST make that connection for the dog whistle crowd. Double points if you can imply Africans are animals.

Respect for America did take a real hit when Romney was campaigning abroad.  That much is true.

It's becoming clearer and clearer that we avoided a real disaster by not electing this clown president in 2012. Romney would have made Dubya look like FDR or Lincoln by comparison.

Being legitimately angry with the Obama administration over, in particular, the use of wiretapping and drones, is not the same as the withering contempt and disgust in which the entire world held Bush.

Yeah, it's more disappointment with Obama, the fact that people expected more.  People outside the US thought Dubya was a moron blindly following an insane foreign policy designed by evil people.  Completely different things.

I couldn't decide which GOP caricature to use, so here are both.

You silly lie-bros with your math and facts and shiat.

or

Is that math you do as a Democrat to make yourself feel better?

Anyways, the GOP fantasy land is somehow becoming even more disjointed from reality.

The rest of the world was happy with his election because it was proof that the United States was weakening.

Romney said it's hard to name one. He's just bragging that his knowledge of the globe is only as good as George W. Bush's.

2014-03-21 01:46:07 PM
Maybe we're reading into it, and Mitt is just saying he has trouble naming other countries.

My neocon brother has been waxing nostalgic about Romney ever since that Mitt documentary, so I guess it's a shared delusion.

"It is hard to name even a single country that has more respect and admiration for America today than when President Obama took office."

Writer: "Well, the answer to that is embarrassing, so we're changing the subject and citing a poll to how they feel about our leadership, instead. Maybe nobody will notice the switch..."

2014-03-21 01:49:06 PM
So, Romney seems off base, but there's a catch. Gallup did find that approval of U.S. leadership - after improving upon Obama taking office - declined in many regions. From its Obama-era peak, approval has fallen 8 percentage points globally (although it's still above where it stood at the end of the George W. Bush administration).

Obama is such a feckless and weak leader that even though he is viewed as a better leader by other nations he is still unable to lead because he is seen as weak.

Obama is barely more popular that his democrat predecessor who got us attacked by Iraq on 9/11 and then couldn't lead us out of it with his feckless and weak leadership which is what you expect from the democrat party.

I bet Osama bin Laden is laughing pretty hard at America right now.

Politifact would rate this "False" if it wasn't such a watercarrier for the Dems.  The comparison he drew was with when Obama took office, not in 2012 in the midst of the Bush presidency.  When O took office, the angels sang and the waters preemptively went down.  538 rewrote the quote to get its desired result.

Yes yes, we know you right-wingers think that a President who doesn't go to war at the drop of a hat is "weak". A good President like Romney would already be fighting unwinnable wars in Syria, Iran, Libya, and Egypt!

He must have missed that news report where other countries were polled on who they would want to win in the American election and most went for Obama.

Oh right, shirtless Putin etc. how could I forget.
