I call dibs on Marijuana Female.

2014-03-21 11:35:16 AM
Yeah, the average caucasian drug user between 18 and 35, according to the article.

This project shouldn't pretend to be something it's not.

2014-03-21 11:37:20 AM
You can read more about the methodology here - it's limited, but not uninteresting.

Actually it's very uninteresting.

2014-03-21 11:51:24 AM
They all look the same.

2014-03-21 11:54:23 AM
The meth users all had an average of a mouth filled with teeth, I presume.

2014-03-21 01:00:29 PM
I want to see what common computer programs would look like if the computer were on drugs.

2014-03-21 01:01:13 PM
They got the computer to do drugs?

2014-03-21 01:02:18 PM

Honest Bender: They all look the same.

Pretty much this... A little fuller in the cheeks on one, a little skinnier in the jaw on another. That was most definitely a colossal waste of time and resources. Of course they don't look exactly the same, but it's close enough that it isn't worth making any kind of deal over it.

2014-03-21 01:02:23 PM
Cool. Now you can shop around for the face you deserve when you're 55.

2014-03-21 01:02:39 PM
Well, that was stupid.

2014-03-21 01:02:40 PM
So basically the look like average white people? Nice sampling of 100 to build a predictive or composite (drtfa took a poidh approach) model.

2014-03-21 01:03:23 PM
Lol they're totally wrong about the meth ones. The motherfarkers around here look half farking dead.
/Southeast Ky has a big meth problem,I do believe the people that live beside me are cooking.
//I can smell the ammonia and other chemical smells in my laundry room,

2014-03-21 01:03:57 PM
great.  they all look like Half-Life characters.

2014-03-21 01:04:22 PM
What we really need is a computer model of what an honest politician looks like. So we can elect them.

2014-03-21 01:04:56 PM
It's nice that couple has similar interests.

2014-03-21 01:05:03 PM
So if the average user is a 20-35 year old white person, when does the jail population start to reflect this for drug crimes?

2014-03-21 01:05:23 PM
So, drug users have frizzy hair. Got it.

2014-03-21 01:05:50 PM

Honest Bender: They all look the same.

And sadly, they are all more attractive than me.

2014-03-21 01:05:52 PM

Yeah for reall!

Where are all da pipe-hittin negros?

2014-03-21 01:06:04 PM

Honest Bender: They all look the same.

Hence the word "average".

2014-03-21 01:06:44 PM
So, you'll look white, relatively attractive if you are a male or a female, totally normal, but with blurry hair.

2014-03-21 01:06:51 PM
they all have brown eyes.

2014-03-21 01:07:10 PM

Give them some SnowCrash and see what happens

I don't think they thought this through. Averaging faces makes them more symmetrical uniform, which is to say, more beautiful. These "averages" are actually more beautiful than any of the individuals who were averaged. The most you can say is that some of these faces look more masculine (a drug used mainly by testosterone ridden males, for example, or more feminine, perhaps a drug that appeals to gays or Beta males).

Average faces are average.

cgraves67: Honest Bender: They all look the same.

I think that there was a study that showed that "computer-averaged" faces are always viewed as above-average in attractiveness, because the averaging process smooths out facial imperfections.

2014-03-21 01:07:36 PM
All drug users have blurry hair.  Seems like they'd be pretty easy to spot.

Funny how averaged British faces are more attractive than any single British face.

loki see loki do: Funny how averaged British faces are more attractive than any single British face.

This is usually true with any group of faces. We are attracted mostly to faces with "average features".

What 'computer models' might look like:

Wow.  The average drug user is a typical average white person.

Groundbreaking.

2014-03-21 01:11:41 PM
I don't look like any of those people, so I guess I'm safe from scrutiny.

Yeah, the "Faces of Meth" series is MUCH more effective.

That is true. Because human beings typically think "closer to average" is more attractive.

Glad my computer is not on drugs.

2014-03-21 01:15:20 PM
Huff Po has been putting out some pretty lame articles lately.

2014-03-21 01:16:07 PM
well, that was helpful.

That looks suspiciously like the computer model of the average American looks like... also, what the average shoe wearer looks like, the average pedestrian looks like...

i didnt realize till now how subtle the look of addiction was.......

/this is going to be harder than birdwatching.

The average white user who has recently been arrested.  People who don't get arrested aren't included, which isn't real representative of shiat.

2014-03-21 01:24:00 PM
Are these the same computers they use to model climate patterns?

2014-03-21 01:24:50 PM
Maybe it's because of all the drugs I use, but those people looked perfectly normal to me.

2014-03-21 01:29:21 PM
I think they are both above average in the looks department.  I'd do drugs again if I could look like that.

Drugs make you blurry.

Next on: Faces of Meh.

Pointy Tail of Satan: What we really need is a computer model of what an honest politician looks like. So we can elect them.

They have to find a sample first. Good luck...
