Sweet! Judging by their 'Time Machine' DVD and 'Clockwork Angels', they're tighter than ever, which is saying a lot.

I politely decline to stop liking what you don't like.

Put the good headphones on and listen to "Headlong Flight".  Listen again, focusing on just one instrument.  Do that again with the other instruments.  These gentlemen are at the top of their game, and their last tour was one of their best shows I've attended.

/Still miss the giant inflatable rabbit, though.

Odd Bird: Came here for the insolent whining of the tasteless and unwashed.
Leaving satisfied, you may now resume listening to the sounds of strangled cats.

You mean The White Album?

I never cared for Rush, but doing laundry on stage is kinda awesome.

You just had to bring them into this, didn't you?  You might as well reference Democrats and Clog Dancing too.

Lately I've been getting into some old 70's rock. Stuff I never heard before like Birthcontrol. A 70's German prog rock band. Some great stuff out there. I might wanna check out Rush if they go on tour next year. Last Rush show I saw was back in '95.

jonathan_L: Saw them on the Clockwork Angels tour and was mildly disappointed with the setlist choices. 4 songs from Power Windows? I have a soft spot in my heart for that album, but it was far from their finest moment. They virtually ignored their 70s output in favor of that from the mid-80s and later, and because they chose to play CA virtually in its entirety, lots of great older songs got the axe.

Here's hoping their next tour is alternating nights of "A Farewell to Kings" and "Hemispheres" in their entirety, mixed in with hardly-ever-played tracks from Permanent Waves (Jacob's Ladder! Natural Science!), 2112 and Fly By Night.

My goodness, I don't think the stage could handle that much awesome.

I'll chime in on the "Suck it haters" bit.  I first saw them in 1984 on the Grace Under Pressure tour, and I saw them 28 years later on the Clockwork Angels tour.  They put on a flawless, 3-hour performance that had an audience spanning three generations singing along- when the first bars of 2112 started up in the encore I suspect we were louder than the Seahawks fans.

They're in their sixties and they'll still outplay and outperform your latest favorite band.  And in a decade when your favorite band is long forgotten, Rush will still be packing stadiums.

Please please please let this be true. They put on a hell of a show. Their old stuff and new stuff has different strengths, but it's all fun. (Humblebrag on) Only got to see them twice on the CA tour, but the VIP section made this small dose of awesomeness acceptable (humblebrag off).

I'll go see them again. Their last show in Indy was kind of disappointing, but only because the sound system in Conseco sucks. They are a band where you want to hear every note and it was all turned to mush by the shiatty basketball arena acoustics. Rush, if you are listening, book a real concert venue next time.

lawboy87: My version of hell includes Getty {sic} Lee warbling 24/7.   I will give them props in regard to be an incredibly proficient group on their individual instruments.  Just never cared for the music they produced and Lee is like nails on a chalkboard to me.

This x 1000.

But Black Sabbath already toured for that mediocre album.

Prank Call of Cthulhu: Old Man Winter: I'll be that guy. I'm 36 and Rush has always wounded like old people music.

I'll be that other guy. Rush indeed is the greatest rock band in the world. All who doubt me, suck cock by choice.

Well, if we're rating absurdly overrated bands, then YES, Rush is totally on the top of the list, right along with Pink Floyd, Grateful Dead, Crosby Stills & Nash, among others.  Geddy Lee has one of the most uninviting vocals ever put to music.  Holy shiat, I cannot believe they ever got a contract.  I can only guess Canada was privvy to heroin much earlier than the rest of the world.

craigdamage: ....if they promise not to play anything after "Signals" I would go.

To be fair. I think "Grace Under Pressure" and "Power Windows" had decent compositions but both those records were utterly ruined by dreadful 80s production.

Every thing RUSH has done since 85 (their last 7 or 8 records) has sucked ass. period.

I cannot believe I'm feeding into your trollosity, but seriously dude- get a pair of good headphones and listen to Counterparts and Clockwork Angels and TRY to objectively listen to them. Let go of your predjudice against the band and just... listen. Then come back and tell me that is "sucked ass".

I think Iron Maiden would disagree, but in general I'd say you are correct.

Maiden and Rush are, in my opinion, in their performance primes right now.

I am not a troll.

I probably have been listening to and buying RUSH records before you were born.

RUSH ran the well dry. Quite a few years ago.

I challenge you. (and any current RUSH geek)

Hum your favorite RUSH riff from post 1985.

Can't do it can you?

There are NO great memorable riffs/hooks from RUSH post 85.

Listen to "Something For Nothing" a totally filler disposable track from 2112.

There is NO f*cking RUSH song that sounds that frikking awesome post 1985. period.

You stupid retard RUSH geeks need to give up.

Seeing that you at least used to be a Rush fan, you must have at LEAST a modicum of intelligence and tact. Being that I do as well, I am going to disregard your hyperbolic statements and name-calling and simply tell you that you couldn't be, imo, more wrong about "post-1985" Rush. I hummed at least 5 of those songs in rapid succession just after reading your "hum challenge".

Did Neil piss in your cornflakes or something?

....you forgot to name a single post 85 RUSH song equal to "Something for Nothing"

again, RUSH filler songs from the 70s better than anything they have done since 85.

they lost their riffs/hooks long ago. give it up. RUSH geeks chasing a dream. Get over it. I did.

2 Rush fans bickering. I love it.

No- a Rush fan and an angry, blithering idiot.

I was a "Rush Fan" long....long...long ago. Then I grew up.

Got tired of flippant musical pretentiousness. Realized a whole world of good "progressive" music existed elsewhere.

Now love berating dorky RUSH nerds who can't let go.

ROLL THE BONES!!!!   Ha!

....I do admit though, get me drunk enough and I'll fire up "Hemispheres" or even "Caress of Steel"

.......get me REALLY drunk and I'll even listen to "Tales from Topographic F*cking Oceans"
