Most of it isn't even all that freshly painted.

But more importantly, there is no Costco store in West Sacramento, so WTF is this story even talking about?  Is there some sort of Costco regional pharmacy distribution center there, or something?  Who knows--the story doesn't say.

Nice reporting as usual, SacBee.

Angela Lansbury's Merkin: People still abuse Hydrocodone?  I thought we'd moved on to Oxy and other opiates?

Never had oxy, and I don't like hydro--in fact, when I've been given scripts for it in the past, I've usually just taken one or two for the worst pain and then thrown the rest away--but it seems that a lot of docs hand out Vicodin/hydrocodone like they're Tic-Tacs.  I assume that they're a little more discretionary about handing out scripts for oxy.

Federal narcotics agents discovered last year that a Costco pharmacy in West Sacramento was consistently purchasing more of the painkiller hydrocodone than any other pharmacy in California.

Didn't see in the article: how much more? I mean, someone has got to be the top seller, right?

BizarreMan: I can't take hydrocodone. It makes me itch like crazy.

Yeah, I get itchy... Only sometimes, as I take it pretty regularly. It can also give me extremely lucid dreams, but that's ok, because I'm weird, and I actually like waking up scared half to death, so I get a kick out of the 'Think someone is in your room' and wake up 3 times before you really wake up thing, it's a nice adrenaline bump at night.

I also get hot flashes, or whatever you want to call them. I'll be walking around the house wanting to open windows, and my wife is bundling up under blankets.Of course, I get the same side effect if I don't end a 'script by weaining off of them for 2 days or so.

Also, FTFA:
Brands and generics marketed in this country are combination products. The fact sheet says that examples are hydrocodone and acetaminophen - Vicodin; and hydrocodone and aspirin - Lortab ASA.

Sorry, guys, but Lortab doesn't exist anymore. They reduced the Acetaminophen content, and it's now Norco. Turns out that something like 80% of Acetaminophen OD cases were people who were taking the 10/500 Lortab, so the strongest I can find not is 10/350. Ironic that the opiate stays at the same level.

Actually, the days of Hydrocodone free for all are sort of gone since late 2013 when the FDA started cracking down and wanting to classify Vicodin as dangerous as Oxy and the like.  I was addicted to all sorts of opiates, everything from Vicodin to oxy to morphine to Fentanyl for about six years, but even after experiencing those harder versions, good old vicodin was my all time favorite.  No itch, high energy, good pain relief, good euphoria.

Tangentially, I asked my detox doctor WHY doctors are so willing to write scripts for these drugs that will send some people down the road to ruin.  I mean, my first Vic prescription had three refills on it.  That's a lot of pills!  He said that its because doctors DO NOT WANT YOU CALLING BACK WITH PAIN. It's easier to send you home with 30 vicodin and have to cut you off later than to have you calling him at 11:00pm at night with some sort of excruciating pain that he can't take care of.

Random Internet Persona: Throw in some tequila!

Better to wash Vicodin down with KirklandTM vodka.  Around here, it's only about 20 bucks for a big 1.75 bottle, and it's pretty damn good stuff, made in France (and widely rumored to be made by Grey Goose).  You can wash down a lot of doses of hydrocodone for $20, and save some big money that you can use to buy more drugs.

Please.  Rush is a classy guy, so he goes with imported cabana boys rather than domestic.  Plus, given the depressed economy of the Dominican Republican, they're a much better bargain.

West Sacramento pharmacy purchased 5 Million Hydrocodone Dosage Units
vs
184 Pharmacies in the counties Amador, El Dorado, Placer, Sacrament, Solano, Yolo and Yuba
Purchased a combined 2 Million Hydroconde Dosage Units

FTA:  Comparisons for 2012 and 2013 showed similar results, according to the affidavit.

How is it possible to miss that for two years? The manufacturer has to realize that, hey, we ship 2 Million units to 184 combined pharmacies, and 5 million units directly to just one location.

I have that problem with percoset but not vicodin for some reason. At least in the dosages I was given. I recently had a surgery where they gave me vicodin, percoset and  morphine for the pain. But they ended up giving me Dilaudid.

And as I mentioned above, how is it possible for the reporter to miss the fact that there is no Costco store in West Sacramento?  I still have no idea WTF the deal is with this story--again, I assume it was some regional wholesale Costco pharmacy purchasing/warehouse center or something rather than a retail location, which would of course change the nature of the story, but the story simply provides no clue.

It's a Costco distribution center; according to local TV news the problem may have more to do with record keeping at Costco's actual stores.

FthisA: "The pills were bought by Costco's distribution center in West Sacramento and then shipped to several area Costco locations to fill prescriptions for customers."

I took that shiat until I started wondering why I was having night terrors of wall clock spider playing around on my ceiling fan.
It seems some people taking my drug combo had night terrors.   I decided to accept the pain as if I had a second wife and
all was well.

Yup.  Seems any minor procedure I get, I end up going home with a prescription with multiple refills.  "Pain should last for 2 or 3 days, here's a 3 month supply of Hydrocodone."

I've thrown out so much Hydrocodone its not funny.  (Have a friend of a family who always offers to purchase the extras off me, so he can resell.)
