I've been searching online satellite images for well over a week now for leads.  I think this is the most promising:

mauinow.com
That's a runway in North Korea.  Image taken 3/9/14.  I've compared the image with MH370's specs, and the large plane toward the center-left of the image matches well.  I've also confirmed that the same large plane does not appear on any previous images of this runway.  Combine that with the fact that a number of Korean take-out menus were deleted from the pilot's flight simulator, and the fact that the co-pilot lived at home with his parents (much like N. Korean dictator Kim Jung Un did), and I think it is a solid lead.

Since the link is to a live blog, here are the relevant sections:
15:21:
Based on information released by British satellite company Inmarsat, Malaysian authorities waited at least three days before publicly acknowledging data that suggested the plane had continued flying for several hours after it lost contact with the ground. Correspondents say the revelations are likely to increase the pressure on Malaysian authorities, who have been accused by the relatives of those on board of withholding information from them.
15:12:
The information Inmarsat has revealed to the BBC about the data it gave to the Malaysia authorities matches a http://online.wsj.com/news/articles/SB10001424052702304026304579449680 167673144?mg=reno64-wsj&url=http%3A%2F%2Fonline.wsj.com%2Farticle%2FSB 10001424052702304026304579449680167673144.html">report in the Wall Street Journal published earlier on Thursday. Inmarsat claims the Malaysian authorities continued to search in waters close to the plane's point of departure despite receiving satellite data suggesting that the plane continued to fly for several hours after losing contact with air traffic control.
15:03:
Inmarsat says it learned on 11 March that the plane had continued to fly for seven hours or more and that it was very unlikely to be in the area where the Malaysian authorities were searching. Inmarsat has made the information public because of concerns over the way the search operation has been handled.
14:58: Breaking News
British satellite company Inmarsat tells the BBC there were very strong indications 10 days ago that the plane would be found either in the southern part of the Indian Ocean or in Central Asia, and not in the South China Sea or the Malacca Straits where Malaysian authorities continued to search.

Well, people have a pretty good, if vague, idea, yes. It's in the ocean, there's very little doubt about that.

If it was hijacked for ransom or something, we'd have heard about it by now.

Indeed. It's just that for some reason they don't want the general populaces to know.

Perhaps we'll get a really good Tom Clancy movie out of this eventually...you know, assuming WWIII doesn't start.

Look at a map and see how far NK is from Beijing. They wouldn't have had enough fuel to get to NK. And besides, if NK had it, they'd be bragging all over the place, because we all know what attention whores they are.

Was at lunch with a strange person and a friend/coworker yesterday.  The strange person abruptly blurted out something about this missing flight, and made some wild speculation about it.  My friend took a sip of his drink, sat it down, and then said something along the lines of:

The 777 has a range of up to 9400 miles - far more than plenty to hit from anywhere remotely close to where the plane was last headed, to anywhere in the entire US.  Worst-case, the plane takes off and shadows another 777, someone takes out the real 777, this missing 777 then fakes the transponder of the other, and flies un-accosted to anywhere in the US or Europe.  But instead of passengers, or running into a populated area with simply fuel tanks, the plane is filled with massive amounts of explosives, including biological agents which, by the way, are relatively easy to create but are hard disperse...unless you have a spare 777 that can fly anywhere it wants and act as a heavy bomber into any city in the world.

My friend then picked his drink back up and took another sip, knowing that his work was done - the weird guy had has his brain broken.  He's probably still twitching even now.

I love that guy.  I hate though that while sarcastic, it was also....feasible.  I guess his mojo worked on me a little too

The commercial imagery satellites are about .6m/pixel.   This is as accurate add the US government will allow them to be.    The spy satellites are better, but they won't say by how much.   I have an odd feeling (though I've not looked carefully enough to be sure) that the software used to generate these images released to the press is stuff I wrote.

CraicBaby: Look at a map and see how far NK is from Beijing. They wouldn't have had enough fuel to get to NK.

One thing that I have noticed to be entirely missing from 10+ days of news reports is the question of *EXACTLY* how much fuel was loaded on board that plane when it departed.  NO ONE has given an answer.  I don't know if the Malaysian government (and others) are playing that close to their chest for intelligence reasons, or they are doing the typical Asian thing of trying to avoid embarrassment that something is seriously farked about this missing plane, but the total fuel on board is a pretty important thing to know.

Why not release a full detail image and tell everyone it is, of course, dumbed down.   Then watch as other countries spend billions to try to match your technology.  Then you walk in and sell them butter for 10$ a pound.
