Even George Washington wouldn't cross that.

A sewer pipe rupture actually has a lot in common with a dysentery outbreak.

Valley Creek flows into the Schuylkill not far from where the spill occurred

Sewage in the Schuylkill? Who could imagine such a thing?

Throughout the region - and the nation - water officials are dealing with an aging infrastructure that will cost billions of dollars to upgrade.
But taxpayers and officials intent on reelection often balk at such projects, preferring more visible, above-ground ventures - until a major burst occurs.

But we can afford trillions in pissed away wars in foreign shiatholes that don't even have running water to this day.
Right.
Farking nation of pussies and now you can't flush.

Guess I'll just leave this here.

2013 Report Card for America's Infrastructure: D+

Possibly relevant for this article:
Drinking Water: D
Waste Water: D
Estimated investment needed by 2020: $3.6 TRILLION. Here's how big that number is: 3,600,000,000.  Since the ship has sailed for budget year 2014 that means we only need to spend 3.6/5 = $720B a year for the next five years just so our country doesn't fall apart around us.  And it only gets more expensive the longer we wait.  USA USA USA!!

Ooops that's what I get for being smarmy.  More like 3,600,000,000,000

This stream already had signs every 50 feet warning (do not eat fish from this waterway or let your pets play in or drink from...) due to a chemicals spilled from a construction site about 7 years ago. Really kind of sad as there are some sweet looking trout that swim up and down Valley Creek and it could be a nice place to take the dog but it is too contaminated.

Millions of gallons of raw sewage and all they did was add more chlorine. What about the chunks?

Because other countries that didn't rebuild their urban centers after being bombed to shiat 70 years ago don't have these problems?

Which war was it that America had its urban centers bombed to shiat 70 years ago?

Our infrastructure sucks, and actually, it sucks even worse when you compare to other similar countries.  Sure, everyone has these problems, we're just the richest country that seems to be solving the problems by ignoring them.  "Maybe if we just ignore our crumbing infrastructure it'll just go away."  Actually that would be a "successful" plan.

Valley Creek is known for the exceptional quality of its brown trout fishery, said John Dettrey, the group's secretary.

Now more than ever.
