"One big lie".
Yup, just like the banks that encouraged him.

Bernie redistributed wealth his entire life, and now he's suddenly against it?

I can see where the game looses it's charm when you are not the one redistributing.

If he's unfazed, then it's not cognitive dissonance.

2014-03-20 01:16:16 PM
Come on subby, you think it's easy pulling off a $5 billion con?

2014-03-20 01:24:14 PM
The socialists would have taxed his criminal enterprise right out of business!

Arkanaut: Come on subby, you think it's easy pulling off a $5 billion con?

Obviously quite easily done.
This pud is not exactly the best and brightest.
My money sez he is the fall guy for the bankers behind him.

O, I see, he just put all that nice capital in a box on his desk.

Why is anyone even talking to this guy? Who gives a flying crap what he has to say about anything from federal prison where he'll eventually die?

/"Chasing Madoff" is not a very good movie. Unless you enjoy unfounded paranoia, in which case go nuts.

This is exactly the point I was going to make. Why not just interview the homeless guy panhandling for change at the bus stop? His opinion on public policy is at least as relevant and interesting as a locked-up con man's.

2014-03-20 03:18:50 PM
Well, doesn't he make a nice spokesman for the wealthy right.

2014-03-20 03:57:13 PM
This is part of his long con. He would use talk like this to butter up scared, old, and hateful rich people on golf courses. His "boo socialists" statements are merely a part of his schtick.

2014-03-20 04:54:01 PM
I thought he was dead.

2014-03-20 05:13:23 PM
Why isn't his tongue torn out yet?
Why hasn't his entire family who directly benefited from his thievery been executed?  Or at least parted out for their organs?

humanshrapnel: I thought he was dead.

Ken Lay from Enron died before he could be brought to justice. Jeff Skilling's sitting in prison for that debacle, though, for what that's worth.

But no. Bernie's alive, incarcerated, and still being sought for interviews.

2014-03-20 06:15:45 PM
"His policies are too socialist," Madoff said.

So, still telling whoopers hey Bernie?

2014-03-20 07:18:27 PM
He's in Jail for the next 150 years. Why do people still give a fark about his opinion?

Because when you ruin that many lives, the state should be looking to put you down?

Or you actually worked for it......

Obama's tax plan was said to only raise taxes for mega wealthy but ours almost doubled and we are hardly wealthy. Well off? Sure but not close to wealthy and the bite it took hurt by not letting us invest in retirement like we used to or spending as much as we had previously so some bartenders took a hit!

If they want to interview someone on the weaknesses and limits in our regulatory structures he'd be one of the first I'd recommend. If they wanted commentary on a just-uncovered scam, some insight into how it could have been carried out, he is the man.

For this? What credibility does be bring to this table? More shock journalism.

Next up, an interview with Charles Manson criticizing the organizational underpinnings of mainstream faiths.

It's not going to work here - too many Fark regulars of all stripes will know you're lying.  Maybe the folks at Freeperland will give you a ditto or two.

Hey, maybe he's telling the truth, sort of.  Stop laughing.  Let's see what that well-known WSJ graphic suggests what may have happened to his taxes after Obama let Bush's top tier tax cuts expire:

img.fark.net

He says "we" and "still saving for retirement" so maybe hes the couple at lower right.  Their taxes skyrocketed from $175k to $195k, which isnt quite doubling them, but we will say its close to doubled, right?  After Obama he now only takes home $450,000 so no wonder he cant save for retirement anymore.

I wish I was lying.

But then everyone here on fark are part of the lower class who think everyone making over $40k are loaded and shave kittens while drinking puppy blood as part of their pact with the Illuminati.

Sometimes the truth does get posted and our tax bill did double, shocked us as well since it ate up most of the bonuses. And together we make well under the limit that was said would see little or no difference.

Also I never go to free republic, I heard about here once then checked it out for curiosity, those people are morons.

Nope, not even close to that tax bracket but we did get royally farked on taxes this year.

Its amazing how so many here have no clue about how life works, but it shouldn't shock me since the politics tab overflows with idiocy which is the best reason for avoiding.

The problem with your claimed story is that we can all check US income tax rates, before and after Obama's changes.

There is no second secret tax code that only applies to you.

There is no possible way that Obama's tax code changes doubled your federal taxes, as you claimed, unless your income nearly doubled as well, in which case you would not have a financial hardship. At all.

Again, anyone here can fact check you, and they will find that what you claim is just not possible, and therefore untrue.

Now it's certainly possible that, for various reasons, you are now paying a lot more taxes, but not because Obama let the Bush tax cuts expire.  Therefore everyone here, of every political party, knows that you are lying.

Correct.

Cognitive dissonance is the mental conflict resulting from being aware of two conflicting notions in one's mind.

What we have here is DoubleThink.
