I see a lot of sizzle and very little steak.

As a Cleveland native and fan, I don't generally follow sports, because it's too depressing.  However, this is freakin' cool.

That is really creative. Is that what the attending fans see or just TV viewers?

2014-03-20 02:22:29 PM
Well, they have get people to attend somehow.

It says it's a 'court projection', implying that it's projected onto the court, and they show the guys come from the corner as they introduce them, yet still have the image, so I think it's what the fans see. You also see other people milling about on the court.

If so, it's uber-cool. If this IS just for people on TV,I'm not that impressed, tho.

I think it's clearly projected as you can see one player's shadow on the court.

Kinda looks like what they have at the Comcast building in Philly.

Pretty cool I guess.

I knew big Z was important in Cleveland, but I wasn't aware he was big enough to get 50% of the intro time.

Does it look nearly as cool for those in lower level seats?

Though I guess that's the trade off for having better seats.

The Cavs, as sh*tty as they may be, still rank 16th in the league in attendance, ahead of six teams who are currently sitting on playoff spots.

IIRC that projection thing debuted on the night they retired his jersey.

Nice graphics but they need an announcer with a better voice and some talent.

Geeze, that's a MAJOR hathos alert.

And unless we were hearing a feed directly from their audio system, they could also use a more enthusiatic audience.

Go watch an NHL game.  See this stuff all the time.  Cunucks and Flames usually have a pretty cool show

Good Lawd, I love technology!

That was much more amazing than anything I was expecting. Where the silhouettes on the near side of the court projections or actual people?

I am not a fan of basketball.

THAT however, I am a fan of...that was DAMN COOL!

Yep.

Wouldn't the 3D effects look "off" to the people sitting on the opposite side of the court where the camera was?  Also the ends of the court.  So basically it only looks good for a portion of the audience seated on the correct side of the court.

I see this with WWE all the time, too.

Sportsball is super exciting.

Spent more on pregame entertainment than they did on the roster!

jk, I have no idea if they are good or not.

Cleveland?

Ok, I'll say it....Why is this in the sports tab? :p

Looks like after all the thought and effort that went into putting that together, they reversed Jarrett Jack's name on his graphic.

That's what I was wondering. Kind of like those pavement chalk drawings that look 3D when viewed from the right angle, but completely distorted when viewed from the opposite side.

OMG i cant wait until they do that in Hockey.
