We've had a surplus the last few years so it's not like we can't spare a little extra cash to help 'em out.

Making it easier for the poor to be less hungry? The Party of Jesus will not stand for that!

"Since the passage of the farm bill, states have found ways to cheat once again on signing up people for food stamps," Mr. Boehner told reporters last week. "And so I would hope that the House would act to try to stop this cheating and this fraud from continuing."

Cheating and fraud? WTF?

As opposed to getting farm aid for dancing horses and hobby farms for tax subsidies. You know, fraud, like people getting food and stuff. Study it out, lady...

It always comes down to food with the goddam poor. I grew up poor, I didn't eat from the second grade to the fourth grade.  And you know what?  No one helped me!

Jon Stewart called them out on this last week. When rich people take advantage of loopholes, it's being smart and taking advantage of a situation. When poor people do it, it's gaming the system and cheating.

Poor people wouldn't need refrigerators if they kept their thermostats set to 40 degrees!

We've become such a nanny state, making sure that vulnerable poor people are being fed and kept warm.

But only cutting food stamps for blue states was not cheating?  Is that your contention, Mr Boehner?

DC Republicans are OK with this. The Feds cut benefits, some of the blue states increase spending to offset the cuts, needy people in blue states don't lose anything, the Republicans can both point to their own cuts plus the job-killing high-taxes in the liberal states, it's a win-win-win.

Unless you're needy in a red state. But then, you know, you should just stop being the needful.

That's a great bit, but you're forgetting something.

Rewarding the rich for being rich makes them want to be rich. That's a good thing.

Rewarding the poor for being poor makes them want to be poor. That's a bad thing.

Meanwhile, energy company executives are nice and warm while they dump toxic waste into rivers and spill oil all over the place.

Then they blame too much regulation for why prices are so high.

2014-03-20 11:20:34 AM
I need some help confirming this, but I think bread and milk and other staples are more expensive in neighborhoods with lots of people receiving food stamps. Not by much, but it still looks like a subsidy effect.

Are they trying to get the poor so hungry and desperate that they turn on our government in a wave of  opposition and start fighting in a new civil war that makes the Arab Spring look like a fight between a couple of neighborhood boys?

I just ROFL at seeing the right wing totally going super-meltdown over this. They had slashed SNAP and were all ready to fap off to the wails of starving babies across the country. Now their stroke-off fantasy has been ruined by bleeding heart humans on the state level.

Oh, you damn well can guarantee that the Koch Brothers are going to step up their.....ahem........"support" in local races to avenge this outrage.
