big pig peaches: EvilEgg: If you plant a red delicious apple seed you don't get a red delicious apple tree.  You probably get an apple that tastes like ass.

That is why apple trees of any variety are clones of one another, so you can expect to see more of this variety.

That is if this isn't fake, which I suspect it is.

Apples only turn red when exposed to sunlight. I am guessing this is a hoax they made by covering up half the apple.

/The Japanese have turned this technique into an art form.

This sounded intriguing so I googled... and found this:  http://www.ediblegeography.com/the-tree-with-the-apple-tattoo/  --- looks like this mystery is already known, and solved at least a year ago...

Red Delicious apples do taste like ass. Worse than ass, even. At least ass has the decency not to insist it's delicious.

We had a tree in the back yard, an old wild apple tree. My dad and I grafted all sorts of type of apples on it, and just for fun, a couple of peach, pear, and cherry branches. After a few years, it was always fun to have people try to identify WTF was going on with it.

Yeah, we got peaches, pears, and apples from it.

Cymbal: Get back to me when it's half Honeycrisp and half Honeycrisp.

If it doesn't have "crisp" or "pink" in its name, you can keep it.

A pied apple?  So, if you find enough of them you can make a pied apple pie?

I'll have mine with a slice of colby-jack.
