Among our LEO's we should expect a higher moral standard while compensating accordingly and conversely prosecute them strenuously when that standard is violated.

Imagine how many arrests this (allegedly) reprehensible character is responsible for and if those arrests should now be questioned considering the officers (allegedly) obviously poor judgement.

You cannot 'solicit' a child for 'prostitution', it is rape because the child cannot consent. Period. And yes, there are some children who try to do this completely on their own for money or things, but again...any who take advantage of that are committing rape.

Luse: degenerate-afro: Luse: degenerate-afro: Age of consent is 16 in Maryland so there's not really much to debate.  Also nice that the article posts his home address before he's officially charged.

So how is that relevant when the girl is 14?

That's why I said "there's not really much to debate"

Rather odd thing to say. I'm not aware of any state where the age of consent is 14 or lower.

It's relevant because what he's getting at is the age of consent is 16. The girl was under 16. Therefore it is statutory rape, period. No arguments, no debates, no gray area, no special circumstances in play, no loopholes. Statutory rape.

"The two allegedly exchanged text messages before meeting at his home and engaging in sexual activity on three separate occasions between January 2013 and May 2013. "

CHARGE HIM WITH RAPE ALREADY

Tyrone Slothrop: Well, as far as I know no one coerced her in to doing it (unlike the solicitation situation); and teens do have sex, whether society approves or not, so I have trouble getting upset about that situation. Plus unlike some people I make a distinction between prepubescence (definitely a child) and post pubescence (possibly a child).

They are both "definitely a child".  I just wouldn't consider a person a pedo if the girl already has secondary sexual characteristics, but a child is a child

On the one hand anyone who solicits a 14 year old should be thrown in Jail. On the other anyone who says Traci Lords' movies were child porn has a weird idea of what a child is.

That's what I got out of it too.

So why do you need to check the consent ages in various states? Why dont you have a seat over here.

Something like 15 years ago I knew a guy who was well versed in age of consent laws from all over. Dude pulled in crazy amounts of super-hot tail. Also, he has a gimpy hand. I don't know how he managed it, but he's still kind of hero of mine.

18 is arbitrary nonsense given today's sex culture.

Don't you know that cops are held to a higher standard?
Just ask any cop.
He'll tell you so.
