How does one steal nearly a million dollars a year in quarters?

I guess it might have to be laundered?

That would be closer to half a million.

IN quarters or OF quarters?

[reads article]

That is still a shiatload of quarters.

And of course it was the guy in charge.  Always.

"Rica, who was making $86,000 a year, admitted in court he deposited all of the coins he had taken into his own personal bank accounts."

Because who can survive on just eighty-six grand a year these days, right?

Yes. Hard boil a few eggs first though.

I don't understand where he was stealing the coins.

Sample of how coins are collected (How it's made)

There shouldn't be a point where humans are touching the coins. Should be into the box, box to the deposit. I think Brinks handles that in most areas.

What did Sonny Black have to say about this?

That was my first thought.

But he didn't steal them from parking meters FTA: "he had stolen at least $460,600 from Ridgewood's coin-collection room."

Subby must die for telling lies.

Yup.

At my weekend job a year or so ago, this one 20 something stated  Cool Hand Lukewas the stupidest movie ever.  Every one else in the room shamed her into silence.

FTA: "Collectively, his take weighed 11.25 tons, according to the U.S. Mint. That's the equivalent of three elephants, a single 84-passenger bus or nine Honda Civics."

I'm sorry, but I need that amount in "Olympic swimming pools" for it to make any sense to me.

Danger Avoid Death: What did Sonny Black have to say about this?

/(meh, all the Cool Hand Luke references were taken)

That was my [other] first thought. And a superior pop culture reference. My boy Cool Hand Luke was only vandalising parking meters. Sonny Black's crew were burglarising them.

A friend of mine had that game in his house when we were in high school.  It didn't suck any quarters at all.  I guess it probably just sucked up a bunch of dollars when his parents bought it.  The game basically sucked anyway.  The graphics were good, but it was just all about memorization.

I was referring to the arcade version, but you're right. It wasn't a good game, it was just different/experimental for it's time. I remember the arcade version being extremely unforgiving, but I could be wrong. Far from Bluth's crowning achievement, which of course was TSON.

IIRC, it was one of the first 50 cent games.  It was also the first game to use a laser disc.  I wouldn't touch it if I was in an arcade.  Where's Centipede or Galaga?  I think I would even play Asteroids before I'd shove my quarters in that thing.

Indeed, it was THE first. I even have a laserdisc player. Only a couple hundred movies, though. No DA.

If someone wanted to bankrupt one of the local city councils, all they would have to do is get about 50 keys made for the parking meters and hand them out to the homeless on the right day.  It would take the council a while to figure out their revenue stream went away.

/car space was worth $10k/year

best show I've discovered in the last couple of years.  I'm actually glad I didn't know about it when it first aired because otherwise I would have seen them before I did and there wouldn't have been anything good on TV anymore.  Thanks to the Fark video tab for showing me the clip that turned me on to it.

I've heard there's new episodes in the works.  Yay.

The arcade version you played probably had the later ROMs which had "very hard" difficulty - some scenes would be played with random timings.
