Apparently Decker has a focking reality show ... and it's been on for 2 years?!?!  And he's married to some crap country pop whore. Sounds like he chose the Jets for the exposure. (and the ridiculous amount of money they paid him.)

Decker was the 4th best pass catcher on that team. I really can;t understand how anyone is paying him $7mill/yr.

As far as ability and importance to the offense, he was 4th behind Thomas, Welker and Thomas. There's a reason Denver never even made him an offer despite blasting money all over the damn NFL.

This is just me watching him play. It's my opinion, which I am fully aware means nothing to you, considering the shots you like to take. He provides nothing to that offense that can't be fairly easily replaced by someone who will cost half as much or less.

I'm not disputing his numbers at all. They were good, but I think the fact that he played with Manning in that offense in the greatest statistical season of his career skewed them quite a bit. And I think that the talent in that WR/TE corps is fairly obviously with The Thomases and Welker. Decker's not particularly fast, tall or dangerous relative to other NFL starting WRs. He's an upgrade over the Jets dismal WR corps, but he's not a #1 receiver, especially on a team that has no other WR threats.

Yeah, it's not like anybody was lighting it up when Tebow was throwing. That's like getting mad about the sack numbers Denver gave up that year. Your quarterback holds the ball for 7 seconds, you're going to get a few sacks.

Decker is a good receiver, and he had two monster games this year. Problem is, he has a tendency to disappear for long stretches. He hates contact by the CB, and will often give up on a play to beg for a flag. There were at least two occasions this year where an easy gain was to be had, but he was too busy looking at the side judge with his hands in the air asking for PI. His numbers were second on the team because he was the 4th evil according to the defenses...he was not the second best WR on the Broncos, he was 4th, and got single coverage against a lower talent DB because of it. Numbers lie in situations like this. I wish him well, and he'll be a solid receiver, but he's never going to set the league on fire. I'll be surprised if he catches 70 balls this year.

By knowing talent isn't measured by stats. When the secondary has to cover the Thomases and welker who is left for decker? All is has to be is better than the third string cb or a linebacker.

He's a good receiver mind you. A strong #2 but you can't build a pass offense around him without putting a Thomas on the field to soften up the coverage.

Oh I agree he's at best a #2, and sure the other receivers in Denver played a role in his success....no question.

I just don't think he's a #4.  Maybe in terms of notoriety he's a #3, but the stats were too good to be a #4.

And agree considering him to be #1 in New York is ridiculous.

Are there any receivers who do like the defensive contact?  And it seems any time a ball is dropped, the receiver looks and/or lobbies for a flag.  Maybe Decker does it more than some others, but he probably does it on the same level as other receivers.

THIS.

Deckers a good #2 maybe. Not a #1. He needs a true number one. Think Tate going to play with Megatron. They have Pettigrew and Burleson and Reggie in the backfield, he'll be one more piece and NOT the #1 by himself.

Decker is setting him self up for a fail. Good money, good media market for his 'reality' show. But he'll also get every defenses BEST coverage and probably safety help a lot of the time.

His production will crater and so will the team success.

He had better stats then any 2 of the Jets recievers combined.  He will be a huge upgrade for them as a number 1 over what they had.  Id say he's one of the top 30 receivers in the league and deserving of a 1 slot on a terrible passing team.  But he's numbers will drop big time. He's going to be the focus of coverage instead of the 3rd or 4th and won't have PFM so i think he'll be extremely lucky to sniff 70/1000.

Pretty much every FFB writer in creation has already buried him as nothing better than a 7th rounder.  Essentially he's behind the #2 WR's in the great to good offenses and possibly ahead of only James Jones in #1 WR's.  So unless your league is full of Jets homers...

farking Internet. Alternatively, farking Seahawk fans.

You stated he was the fourth best. There are things that measure whether that's the case or not, and it's definitely not the case. Why try to turn it around and start a fight with someone over something else he said in the past?

If Vick doesn't want to hold a clipboard for Foles, he's definitely not gonna want to do it for Geno Smith. I'm sure there's got to be a team out there desperate enough for a starting QB to take a flyer on Vick. (Hi Minnesota! Hi Jacksonville!)

Just looked it up - he did have 8 TD's that year, which was 40% of all of Denver's passing TDs. Although some of those might have been from Orton.

Not sure I can agree with Decker being fourth, but the main reason Denver didn't offer him a big deal is because both Thomases are free agents next year and they're way more interested in ponying (har!) up for those two than Decker. And I don't blame them.

Yep.  It fits the traditional Raiders MO.

I still say Vick has a good arm.  If he'd quit trying to be a running back he might just win some games.
