This Bruins team scores like they never have before. Hopefully the loss of Seidenberg doesn't show itself in the playoffs, but they've pretty much shut everybody down lately.

Held Phoenix to 0 PP goals in 6 tries and at one point held them to 1 shot over 6 minutes of PP.

I'm a pretty big Bruins fan, but this ain't top sportsworthy news to be greened on Fark.

What IS, however, is the absolutely scathing remarks Randy Carlyle said about James Reimer after the Maple Leafs lost to the Red Wings. The Toronto press is going nuts about this, wondering if who will be cut loose from the team first, Carlyle or Reimer. Hockey teams just can't  have this kind of division between goaltenders and coaches. They have to trust each other.

"I thought he was okay, you know, just okay," said Carlyle

This.

Now what Sharks did for that kid last night...that's something to go green.

I agree...a bit of overkill in the last few days, but if we keep getting at least one hockey thread per day during March Moronics, I'll be happy.

Yep.  My team still hasn't recovered from the Hasek/Nolan incident and that was 1997.

It's the Bruins conference to lose right now, without a doubt.

Pretty brilliant really.  Two scenarios here:

1.  Toronto misses the playoffs.  Now Carlyle can point to Bernier's injury as the reason (as opposed to, you know, being a bad hockey team that gets outshot every single game)

2.  Toronto makes the playoffs.  Bernier will play in the playoffs anyway, so who cares if Reimer gets thrown under the bus.

I love my Bruins but beating the Devils isn't really newsworthy even if it is the 10th win in a row. If they beat Colorado on Friday though, that would be the longest winning streak of the season, and worth a greenlight.

The next two games for Toronto will be the most important of the season. They have to beat Lightning and Habs. This is it. They will go on a long slide if they cannot get it done.

The two points are what really matters... The streak is meaningless.

Need to keep ahead of the Pens now, and get some rest for the guys who are going to be putting in big minutes come playoff time.

Things are coming together nicely for the Bruins... Still a lot of room for improvement, but all in all, I'm a happy Bruins' fan right now.

In other news, the Blues can clinch a playoff spot with a win in Chicago tonight.

...only to be eliminated by them in the 2nd round in 6 games.

If I wasn't a Bruins fan I'd be rooting for the Blues all the way. I like the way they play, they're fast, aggressive and now with solid goaltending don't be surprised if they get to the Stanley Cup. Last year the B's lost to the Blackhawks (Chicago was the better team) but I think they've improved their offense enough to beat them now. I think the Blues can do the same, and for the same reason.

How did this turn into a Leaves thread?

Toronto....the only city where the leaves wilt in spring instead of autumn.

Seriously, though...talk about low-hanging fruit and such.

I'd don't know if that would sting worse, or losing in the Stanley Cup round again to Boston.

That shorty by Marchard really took the wind out of their sails, I think... Up 'til then, the Bruins were fairly sloppy and the Devils were getting a decent amount of offensive zone time.

March isn't early. Two years ago when they were obliterating everybody in November and December by scores of 6-1, 6-2, 5-0, 8-1 was peaking early.

Yeah, end of the 1st was only 1-0 IIRC, seemed to be hanging tough despite Boston putting most of the pressure on, then came the shorty and it seemed like everyone said "oh, fark it."

I'm not sure if it was Marchand's goal or the one Iginla scored directly after it.

Either way the Devils didn't seem to be making a huge effort. Except Jagr.

Why Jagr didn't play like that for the Bruins last year...ugh.

Jagr is always at his best when  A) someone else is doing most of the heavy lifting or B) when it doesn't really matter anymore.  Ever since he got that monster contract from Washington he's been on cruise control.  Damn shame really.

Jagr didn't fit the Bruins style at all. He refused to buy in to team defense or dump and chase offense. Iggy does, and knows he's better off letting his linemates do the legwork while he stays in position, because he doesn't have the wheels anymore but he still has the hands.
