gretzkyscores: danielscissorhands: How is Alaska the most eastern state? Because it is just east of Siberia? If you consider that, then doesn't that cancel out it's status as most western state?

I think it's because the Aleutian islands span out beyond the 180° longitude line, putting a few of them in the Eastern hemisphere.

Interesting, thanks. I will have to look that up later on Google Maps.

There was a link on the Buzzfeed page, but it didn't work on my crappy old phone.

Alfonse Gregory: lindalouwho: MythDragon: The heart of a blue whale is so big, a human can swim through the arteries.

If by 'swim through' you mean 'get jammed in there with your arms pinned at your side and drown in whale blood.'
Unless you are relying on blood pressure to push you through. And what happens when you reach the end of the line?
Not to mention, how does the whale feel about you taking a fantasic voyage though it's bloodstream?

There is no "end of the line" in a circulatory system ;-)

True, but I don't think even Buzzfeed is claiming a human could swim through a whale capillary exchange. Things get pretty tiny at the cellular level.

I was just joking around with the phrase "end of the line" ln the previous post - I wasn't suggesting a real Fantasic Voyage.

/come on, y'all, let's take a ride, don't you say shiat just get inside

orangehat: If you think about it most of those things seem like they would be true after thinking about them for a second or two except for folding a piece of paper 42 times since it seems damn near impossible.
As for the factoid about turtles breathing out of their asses it explains almost every photo I've ever seen of Mitch McConnell.

2 to the 42nd times the thickness of paper - it reaches the moon alright - exponents get big FAST

fusillade762: We used to have fun with stuff like this in high school. Tell a cute girl "Did you know you can't touch your elbows behind your back" and then watch them try it.

I have all sons and am a single parent, so it's been up to me to teach them things like this and "Would you rather kiss a horse's ass or a rabbit's nose?" (And yes, I showed them how to pull out their pants pockets....)

/Sigh. Being Supermom can be so exhausting.

bdub77: I read that as 'Plug your nose and try to cum'.

I can do that too. Does that mean I have a deviated scrotum?

What? No love for President Tyler's grandsons still being alive? I looked it up and this article made so much biz that they interviewed him to say that he indeed is still alive and plays tennis like a healthy 84 year old ought to.

Hey wait, I bet I can plug my noise and get a hummer. Ladies? I need to confirm my hypothesis.

NotARocketScientist: ghostfacekillahrabbit: FTA: 17. The heart of a blue whale is so big, a human can swim through the arteries.

Directly beneath this is a picture of a man who is clearly twice the size at least of the arteries on the scale model of a blue whale heart he's posing with.

So you think models can only be scaled up? Maybe that is a 1:8 scale, or a 1:4 or 1:16.
In other words: YOU CAN'T MAKE ABSOLUTE SIZE COMPARISONS WHEN 1 THING IS SCALED AND ANOTHER IS NOT unless you know the numbers and do the math.

Heh meant to say life-size model.

Ha ha, I just infected others with this instead.  I will never get the time back but I feel a bit better now.
