Sweet! The Incredibles was always my favorite Pixar film.

And I just looked at Pixar's list of movies. Didn't know that The Incredibles was the only Pixar film to have one director and one writer, both being Brad Bird.

There's no confirmation yet of Bird's involvement

Excitement pending.

Fingers crossed.

You can't! It's impossible! I'm far too busy, so ask me now before I can become sane.
Wait? you want to make a new Incredibles movie?
You push too hard, darling! But I accept!

during the company's annual meeting today in Portland, Oregon.

Why Portland, I wonder?

In looking for an Oregon connection for Bird I discovered he has an average of 96% on Rotten Tomatoes for his four films. That has to be a record.

Well, good for you?  I would recommend reserving hate for more worthwhile things and settle for ambivalence, but then you wouldn't have a reason to come into a thread and be a contrarian.

This news means nothing unless Brad Bird is on board as the writer and director.

I refuse to get excited until Brad Bird is confirmed to be a part of this. That would mean the story should be quality. Or that they finally found his price. Either way...

This

Without him it would be like the muppets after Jim Henson.

My previous post was a bit obfuscated. For that I humble apologize. Here's the link again with a more interesting description:

Brad Bird's officially doing THE INCREDIBLES 2...yes, you read that right!

As long as there's nothing in it where they're purposely trying to make me cry, I'm on board.

It's Pixar.  Not even the riskiest bet takers in Vegas would bet against a tear-jerking moment.

Meh on the movie, but love Sarah Vowell.

If Bird's in, I might as well just buy my movie ticket now. And pre-order the Blu-ray.

Like a 15 prologue of a couple falling in love and then the wife dying? They'd never do that.

2014-03-18 06:18:49 PM
Maybe this is obvious to everyone, but I just rewatched this last night for the first time in a while. It's funny how much Watchmen influenced the story.

- the govt banning superheroes
- no capes
- the heroes are retired and miss the good ol days
- the villain is killing superheroes

There's probably more, but that's all I could remember.

It must just be me, but I don't watch a movie to experience emotional devastation. I want fun, laughs, excitement, escapism, not something that makes me want to get out Rippy The Razor and go upstream instead of across.

/Up and the last Toy Story movie, I'm lookin' at you...

Or toys reaching out to each other as they slowly make their way towards their fiery doom

I was not being literal. I don't pay money to watch movies that make me feel like shiat afterwards and Pixar has a knack for doing that lately.

Yup.  Use a professionally sharpened kitchen knife instead of a pussy razor blade.

LOLWUT?

They've made sequels since Toy Story 2 (1999). And are you really objecting to Incredibles 2?

Pixar movies tend to jump the shark... I really liked UP! until they reached that lost wilderness.
I really liked Wall-E until he went up on the spaceship...

Its like they have great little concepts, but realize it won't play out for a feature length runtime, and so they tack on some craziness at the end.

FFS.. all the kids are grown up by now.

Now you got that weirdness where there is a new Rusty and Audrey in all the movies.

Meh. Iron Giant was way better. Pixar's best movies were Wall E and Up. Nothing else is even close.

Don't worry, as part of the announcement, they said that they're also hard at work on Cars 3!

I have a feeling with all the mediocre sequels they're making (Cars 2, Monsters U) and now that Disney animation proper is starting to fire on all cylinders (Frozen).

I think it'll be hit-or-miss though with the upcoming Marvel/Disney "Big Hero 6"

Really liked it; changed the way I thought of the Pilgrims and the Puritans.  Previously just knew about them what was taught in school, and was uninclined to look into them any further.

Boo should have been older at the end. Maybe a teenager.
