Damn it. These government handouts are immoral. They just make the film industry lazy, with no incentive to to work hard and produce a quality product.

I have a more workable solution. We throw Kevin James in a deep dark hole and pour concrete over it.

I don't know. That sounds emblematic of Nevada culture to me.

I guess Mass didn't want to give them credits for it?  First one was filmed at Burlington Mall.  I say good riddance.

If anything, this should be a lock for a tax penalty.

There was porn star in the 70's whose name is (was?) Kevin James.

Him and Sandler should do a movie together and just end the universe right now.

I don't know anyone who would even admit to seeing the first one.

It's a sucker's bet. $500K to $40M budget with at least 60% spent in Nevada. So even in the best case scenario ($40M all spent in Nevada) they have to make over 10% back in taxes to pay off their $4.3M subsidy. That's never going to happen.

I see  you missed out on the masterpiece of Grown Ups 1 and 2 where they co star. But said movies do have Selma Hayek's boobs on full display

Weren't they in "Big Gay Married Firefighters" together? I think it was about some firefighters who were gay and got married.

Are we looking at the same picture?  Because on my screen I'm seeing Uwe Boll.

namegoeshere: Hollywood really has jumped the shark, hasn't it.

In the deep recesses of Hollywood, CA, few people know, there is a kind of track. Anyone who has seen prototype jetskis in testing knows this kind of track - looks like a track for running, only filled 8' deep with water. The way movies get made is that the director challenges the executive producer to a race around this track.

Anyway, a few years ago, someone had the bright idea to film the jetskis racing around the track, and to put ramps and other obstacles in the way. Then they did away with the races, and now some poor schmo just has to keep making circuits, jumping a shark every few feet, and the only thing the Suits do is make the jetski faster.

And that's why we have ever-more movies, with fewer and fewer good ones (even as a percentage).

His movies suck, but there's somehting very likable about Kevin James.  Adam Sandler?   I liked Happy Gilmore, but everythiing else has been a turn wrapped in another turd and he strikes me as a real douche bag.  How they got Al Pacino to do Jack and Jill is beyond me.

Yet Sandler's movies have an average gross of $106M. He's one of the most reliable (profitable) producers in the industry.

Wow.

I think what helps him in the rankings is he's got 13 movies under his belt as producer.  Tom  Crusie averages more per box office, but total movies move him further down the list.

interesting list:http://www.the-numbers.com/people/records/technical-roles/Produce r

Notice there are some on the list with only 4 or 5 movies to their credit, and others with as many as 33.

Well it must be the end of the world.

To be fair, tax credits like this in New Mexico made Breaking Bad possible, so there is just as much awesome as crap coming out of these deals. True Detective also benefitted from a Louisiana tax break.

I remember thinking when it came out that I was really excited for the sequel, but I figured it would never be made because (obviously) it would have to be shot in Nevada, and their tax structure just doesn't make that feasible.

Thank God they came to their senses.

I'm gonna open myself up for ridicule and admit that I loved Paul Blart.

He's a bumbling hero, but remains bumbling throughout the movie. He never becomes "bad-ass." He just keeps after his goal and it works out in spite of him. I always loved heroes like Inspector Gadget and Maxwell Smart.

I've watched Blart with the kids countless times.
