CSB time. A buddy of mine back who owns a shop in NoVA just got kicked off the show a week or 2 ago. My favorite part was all the hate mail he got from people that thought he was a nazi because of his 818 San Fernando was an 88 with a bolt in between.

CSB: I got a Friday the 13th tattoo from Oliver many moons ago. He is funny as hell, and the Friday the 13th festivities are always a blast.

Watching that show has made me ask, "How bad are the artists not selected to be on the show?"  Some of their selections really really suck.

Gotta have some easy picking for the judges early on.

It has almost nothing to do with talent, and everything to do with personality. Additionally, top tier tattooers don't need the money (they would make significantly more than the prize money in the time it takes to film the show) or the exposure (they tend to be booked solid for many months in advance).

Huh! I always thought all tattoo artists were upstanding citizens with the utmost respect for women.

My assumption is they are all above average artists is their own shop and working at their own pace. Some handle the atmosphere of the show better than others.

Plus the producers pick at least some contestants based on personality. We couldn't have everyone getting along and respecting each other's work. That wouldn't be good TV.

I've thought about volunteering to be a human canvas (hey, free tattoo), but when getting a permanent body modification, I don't want the artist to have someone shouting in their ear "FIVE FOUR THREE TWO ONE!"

That's a special brand of "I don't give a shiat."

...and that is why I don't watch "reality TV." Seriously, the push to manufacture controversy and churn, solely as vicarious entertainment for viewers, is something I find repugnant. I enjoy sportsmanship, courtesy, and professionalism - but, apparently, that just doesn't sell ads.

Geek Alert:

I first read the headline and wondered what Ink&Toner store would call itself "Ink Master"

My sentiments exactly. "Reality" TV's sole purpose is to make money from the type of viewers who get their jollies from watching people treat other people like garbage. I can't think of one reality show without this premise.

You work on a reality show,  in any capacity, you deserve whatever you get. You are scum.

The chick who ragequit Ink Master and went home first this year is an actress.

I'll guarantee it.

No one with half a brain would go on that show, knowing what it was about, and then act like such a spoiled c*nt.

I'd file charges if Peck did that to me. He's got to be one of the most creepy guys I've ever seen.

CSB time

I got a tattoo from an artist who went on to do that show. I'm happy with the piece and she did fairly well on the show, too.

She seems legit, found her FB page: Facebook link
Considering the overall quality of her work, she was clearly cannon fodder for the early eps. Best for her to have left.

Well tell your friend that 181 tattoo doesn't look great as the '1' does look like a bolt and with the shaved head and face tattoos, even if they are clearly not in aryan style, it's going to get him in trouble with people not aware of the San Fernando reference. I actually froze the image in ep01 when he looks down and I wondered for a while before piecing it together (I actually checked 848 instead).

I've been having doubts about Peck's talent and the show itself ever since I saw the Jaggermeister logo he tattooed during one ep. Lines were sketchy, not aligned and the circle was far from perfect yet everyone acted as if it was the best thing since sliced bread. Now I only skip to the jury review, check who's out and that's it.

/The show had me pondering on getting a tat myself but since I'm a pale mofo covered in moles (about 40... On each arm), I've dropped the idea. Especially after being left with a 2 inch scar from having a large one removed last month because it looked 'weird'.

There's no way a guy with a toothpick constantly hanging out of his mouth is an asshole.
