I assume infield umps don't wear a cup?   Any sport with flying balls I'd be protecting my junk.

They do. A line drive is moving at around 100-120mph off of the bat. No cup is going to protect against that, in fact it may make it worse as it distributes the impact to your entire groin area.

A cup will stop a direct nut shot from destroying your ability to reproduce. It won't turn a 120 mph ball into a tickle monster.

A bulletproof vest leaves a large bruise when you get shot, so don't wear them.
