The woman who claims to be "artistic" is full of shiat. Just because you *can* do something does not make it right or neighborly.

But think of how Property Values would be affected.

Seriously.

Yeah, but at the same time, they aren't "dangerous" or "disgusting". The neighbor is overreacting on an epic scale. Unless these toilets are full of feces, the neighbor lady needs to react. It's stupid, but not "disgusting"

Ah, white trash.

If someone wants to hang bathroom fixtures from their own tree on their own property, let 'em.
Unless it's a health or safety hazard, it's no one else's business.

Growing up in Syracuse, New York there was a house that had a collection of toilet seats hanging on the side of their garage. The toilet seats faced a fairly busy street, so everyone knew "the toilet seat house". It turns out that the residents of the house had some sort of grudge against the restaurant across the street, so the toilet seats were basically a "fark you" to the restaurant and its patrons. Of course, as is the case, it only made the toilet seat house look ridiculous.

Then I learned that the owner of the toilet seat house was best friends with my best friend's mother. I got to meet the toilet seat lady, and she was every bit as crazy as you'd expect, and more.

Would hate to see what you're used to in your own neighborhood.

THIS
The creator is autistic, not artistic.
And own your "art", don't hide behind a cracked door.

Sprite fence huh? must be an "urban" area.

Absolutely classic that the fence isn't even close to high enough.

The toilets look stupid, but I lose respect for anyone who uses "won't someone think of the children" as an excuse for "I don't like that."

Well, let's see how this plays out compared to the average HOA thread.

Lady does need to get more creative about her art excuse though.  When asked if it stands for soemthing (sic), you should have a whole tirade ready to go about war and poverty or whatever BS political motive you want to analogize with a toilet.  The world is her oyster, and she just said no.

If I'm reading it correctly, the toilets were on the ground first and the neighbor built a fence so he wouldn't have to look at them.  Only then did the great muses inspire the artist next door to hang the toilets in the tree, just above the fence.

Will be interesting to see if this turns into an arms race of sorts.  Fence guy builds a new fence that's taller than the tree, toilet guy builds a big pedestal, etc.

The first thing I thought of was that the "artist" is white and does not like black folks. This is her way of pissing them off in the classic passive-aggressive mode.

So "Toilets of Spite" isn't a Quake 3 Arena level?

2014-03-17 03:13:28 PM
Fence lady could probably bust up the toilets of spite with a sling shot and some rocks. Not saying this is the right way to handle the situation, I'm just saying it's possible...

Well, I surmised that from the facebook comment that brought me to the headline, originally
(subby here)
Then I RTFA and realized the "friend" on facebook took some liberties with the truth, unless,  "That is so nasty in the front yard," said Johnson.is proof positive the neighbor is of the social construct deemed non-white. I don't know. I didn't watch the video for clues.
I'd hate to surmise anything outside of they probably don't go to each others' cookouts.
Which is a shame, because that is a great way to get new and exciting recipes.

I mind my own business and don't fuss about what my neighbors do or don't do, as long as it doesn't actually affect me. If I lived near this Toilet Lady I'd probably just mutter "weird" and shake my head. I wouldn't go talking to reporters about it or file complaints with the city. It's her yard and her tree: as long as the toilets aren't overhanging the sidewalk or otherwise creating a hazard, I don't really care.
