(Examiner)   For thousands of years, the flash floodwaters of Israel's Negev desert have sporadically formed into the elusive river Zin. Luckily, after several years of drought, this time, somebody had a video camera   (examiner.com) divider line 92

There is just so much brown mud and dirt and dust in that video.

God sure picks shiatty places he calls holy.

Now, if God told Moses to go to Hawaii or the Bahamas, I think He'd have been on to something. But this place just looks like a shiatty desert. Gee THANKS, GOD.

That's not muddy water. That's what it looks like when you emulsify milk and honey.

I have adblock (et al) and so decided, rather than slowly undo blocks in order to be able to watch the vid, I'd just load it in Chrome (which I use only for such purposes, and erase every day).

Not used to seeing ads, no less such "intensity" of them.

Seriously, what kind of coont does a full-page popover while the video is playing?

At the time, being too shiatty a place for the Egyptian Pharaohs to bother sending in the army to trash the place even more and re-enslave the people made it everything they could have hoped for from God.

Not exactly safe in their viewing.  One slip while scrambling away when the water was higher than expected and they could have gone down the waterfall.  The power of water is not to be underestimated as these 5 people found out:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMa2EhsuR6c (footage shows 5 people being trapped in a flash flood and going over a waterfall and they didn't survive although you don't see that part)  I give the warning in case anyone doesn't want to see that type of footage.

Yep. That happens almost every year around these parts. I haven't seen one in person yet but it's interesting seeing a barren hiking trail turn into a swiftly flowing river overnight.

The terrorists shouldn't have launched hundreds of rockets into Israel.  That usually winds up with you getting dead.  But by all means hate the jews.  Nobody will compare you to a Nazi for that.  Nope, that'll never happen.

He's an omnipotent being who created a man and woman knowing full well he was going to guilt trip them and kick them out of the garden so they could start humanity which he also knew he was going to wipe out via a flood. He's reputed by some to have a sick sense of humor. ;b

I'm always confused how free will works in that scenario because if God created everything then he created all course of action, knowing what it would be well in advance since he is omnipotent.  So anything like choice and fate is kind of meaningless.  Also why is Jesus such a big deal with that philosophy in mind. God sent his only son knowing he would die, made it so and this is suppose to be good? The philosophies where Jesus is an aspect of God just make it seem less. God sends his son which actually a part of him to save people but if it is him how is that salvation at all? If I am rambling I need to go to bed.

I am glad the dog in the video was okay. Was worried (s)he'd fall when the water started going.

Sorry, wrong thread to be that guy. Just trying to be funny, but was one of many questions I that led to my current atheism.
FTR, I don't claim to  know if a god exists, but I would think that any being capable of creating the universe would be above such petty human emotions as jealousy, rage, vengeance and caring about who someone loves.  All JMHO. :)

"Oedipus Rex" is a good example of both fate and free will co-existing. He's fated to kill his father and marry his mother; but not to discover the truth. (Real and figurative blindness are also major themes)

There's no historical evidence the Egyptians enslaved the Hebrews.  The Bible is mostly made up.  But living in inhospitable desert is a good way to stay free, just ask the world's toughest people:
