MutantMotherMouse: JoieD'Zen: gwowen: Empty H: Smart PR move for the company.

Especially after that big fine last year for firing African American employees for looking insufficiently Aryan.

Well, the girl is white.

iron de havilland: 1. Great marketing campaign.
2. The "dust" cliche grinds my gears. If you're actually sat at your computer weeping after reading something like TFA, you may need mood stabilisers like lithium or similar.

This, Good story, good PR but not sniffle worthy.

I also weep on the card aisle, during certain commercials and many movies. I completely avoid watching the extreme home makeover show (is that still on?) due to the level of dehydration I experience. Sometimes I get misty-eyed over dead animals on the side of the road and I ALWAYS cry at weddings. Mr. MMM finds my tender heart endearing. He also realizes the tears dry quickly, and I'm right back to the grind of ripping out hearts for a living. Lithium? No thanks. Sometimes a good cry is the only thing keeping me sane.

"The grind of ripping hearts out for a living"

Well, to be fair, most African Americans DON'T look very Aryan.

Yeah, I can be moved by something without breaking down in tears.

Tearing up for a second is a far cry from breaking down in tears.

OK, to go off on a tangent:

Mr MMM isn't MaudlinMutantMollusk is he? Just the 3 Ms and the mutation kind of stick in the mind. Coincidence?

The most emotionally gut-wrenching thing I've encountered recently (other than Putin's shiat in Ukraine) is Laura Cunliffe.

She killed a kitten, not in the farkworthy sense of having a wank, but by microwaving it.

That's making me tear up right now. I mean... how bad a human being have you got to be to think that that's a good idea?

Great story and kudos to Wet Seal.

semiotix: It's a nice story.  I'm just glad Wet Seal turns out to be "casual women's sportswear, accessories and other related items" and not the boutique fetish-wear shop it sounds like.

Wet Seal brought to mind swimwear, which made me think of Wicked Weasel. (skimpy and see thru bikini's)  I was about to make popcorn for the thread but figured I'd...ahem...research it first.

Nabb1: What a wonderful story.

Wonderful?

Kind, nice....sure.  Wonderful, as in full of wonder?

Sad when nice things are viewed as wonderful, and magnets are seen as magic.

Empty H: Smart PR move for the company.

styckx: *Raise shand*

I'll be the guy who complains the stupid dust  fark meme needs to stop being used.

These.  Sure, some things are moving, but dusty in here over a company playing it smart and being kind?

Whatever.

This is not the first time this story has floated around the internet.  Wet Seal's sales must be down. Time to remind people about that one time they put a Downs girl in their ads.

No, Mr. MutantMotherMouse. No relation to the other mutant dude :0) Laura Cunliffe is a c*nt and deserves whatever misery comes her way. I won't even bother asking why, because there is NO GOOD REASON to torture a helpless animal or child.

Banned on the Run: Lululemon and A&F fire back at their own customers for being too fat.  Wet Seal puts a Down's kid in its ads.

Who has the branding problem?

At least Lululemon and A&F aren't promoting/endorsing obesity, and maybe even encouraging exercise?

Good for Wet Seal and acknowledging the request, responding with a challenge, and sticking to their word.  They may have had transgressions in the past, but this helps prove they're not all bad.

But, c'mon...how many outfits could possibly go with a football helmet?

2014-03-16 06:50:50 PM
TFA reminded me of this remarkable Garth Brooks video. This video was somewhat autobiographic. Gerard, the actual kid in the video, was likewise mainstreamed in high school. Similarly to the video, he tried out for the football team. He didn't actually play. He was the benchboy. The team called him their "secret weapon." Kind. Cool. Inclusive.

Gerard also has a photographic memory of all things classic rock. And he's a pretty good drum player too.

I love the parts of the article where the family is claiming she's unstable and didn't know what she was doing.  Maybe if she's so farking unstable she shouldn't be taking care of a farking animal, you useless farksticks. If they had done something about this instead of ignoring her problem, the cat would not be microwaved and the crazy family member would not be going to jail.

Show some farking spine and deal with your family's problems, or the judicial system will.

Which is why Wet Seal agreed to it.
