It's cleaner.

Your headline is superior. Now I have 8 months to wonder whether Garza for the Brewers or Peppers for the Packers is a better pick up.

I think Steve McMichael had the best quote regarding the situation, but I sadly don't feel Peppers has the same mindset...

"I went to Green Bay in '94 when I knew it was over just so I could steal money from the #Packers, baby." -- Steve "Mongo" McMichael

Firstly, bravo/a to the submitter.  Hats off, all that.

Secondly, as a Bears fan, you guys can have him.

I have strong, strong money on that 3-year contract lasting a year at most.  He's nearing the end and he can't produce like he used to.

It'll still be very, very weird to see him in cheese yellow.

How many Packer peckers did Pepper peck?

A woodchuck would chuck as much wood as a woodchuck could chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

Also, as a Bears fan, BWAAAHAHAHA! good luck with that. Who knows, maybe the Bears game will be one of the games for he bothers to show up? I also have a cousin who's a huge Ravens fan and he's super excited about Steve Smith coming to Baltimore. I had to break it to him that it wasn't 2005.

As a Packers fan, I do not have any illusions that this signing makes us a SB team. I just hope it isn't a complete waste.

The Gentleman Caller: Peppers picks Packers, papers pending.

It's cleaner.

But you'd lose the ability to sing it along to the correct rhythm. So then it makes no sense.

I don't think he's done. He can produce for another year. Maybe two.

Unless he gets bored and half asses it to collect his checks. I'd say it's about 50/50 on which way he goes.

2014-03-15 07:46:36 PM
So apparently the Bears have to pay Peppers contract for this year.
That means they will effectively be paying him to sack Cutler.
Sweet.

Go Pack!

2014-03-15 07:51:10 PM
Peppers in a Capers 3-4 could either suck balls or be pure, unadulterated evil for opposing offenses.

I'm hopeful, but expect a 50/50 either way.

Meanwhile, every Wal-Mart and Dollar General between Rocky Mount and Wendell is buying Packers merchandise.

I honestly love it because it helps our draft strategy.

From what I've seen of the Capers led Pack defense, I'm gonna say it's more 90/10.

I could see peppers lined up as OLB on the other the other side from Matthews.  Or overload and line up as DE on the same side as matthews.

If Peppers has one year left in him and stays healthy this could be a devastating combo

Sacking Cutler would be awesome on so many levels

Not really. I meant swinging on a FA that could...ya know, actually play.

Saturday was an embarrassment from the get-go. FFS, he went to the PRO BOWL after getting benched for a second year guy that had never started in October, IIRC.

Think about that.

I was referring to bigger-named FA successes, like Wood and Pickett.

I'm not surprised someone signed him. I am surprised at how much they're paying him though.  Josh McCown only got $5M/yr and I think QB is a position where you can play longer.

2014-03-16 01:01:49 PM
It's really a 1-year, $8 mil deal, but even that's too much.  We're gonna pay $1 mil per big play, and I'd bet half of them come during Bears games when he decides to show up.

2014-03-16 03:32:14 PM
He should be good for a few more years.  Taking 2/3 of the plays off each game really helps extend your lifespan.

As a die hard Pack fan I fully expect Peppers to get a preseason injury that nags him until week 3 or 4, which then turns into him being out for 4-6 weeks.

But until you all can actually beat us and take the division, you might hold your laughter. I mean, you DID just sign Cutler long term...

Yeah, when's the last time a D-Lineman in his mid 30's ever did anything for the Packers?
