Aw, glad he was saved.  Wonder how many suffer the same fate and don't make it.  Doesn't look like there's much of a chance crawling out of that thing.

One-eyed, no-horned, swimming yellow Labrador?

I could actually use a monocle, since one eye is fine and one is potato.

That's a rough-looking 10.

It's very pleasant to walk along or bike along the Phoenix canals, but they seem to have been designed to kill everyone and everything that falls in. Steep sides, very deep, and very ways to get out. This is 43rd & Osborn where the lab went for a swim.

No tags, no microchip - so now he has 72 hours before the shelter kills him.

Out of the frying pan, in to the fire. I hope his owner comes forward.

The dog is not microchipped and has no collar or identification. AHS is hoping that an owner will come forward during his 72-hour stray period.

How YOU doin', animal control hottie?

Nevermind, that was just an assumption of mine. The googles tell me that the 72 hour stray period means they'll hold him for 72 hours for the owner to reach them, and then they evaluate him for adoption. So, they won't necessarily kill him within the week, they could deem him adoptable and try and find him a home.

That dog reminds me so much of my Georgie - we just lost her this past November. She was 14. She was a basset / lab mix. Here she is, with her "Is there more ham?" face. I miss her.

Here she is with one of her kitties. I think this is the one she tried to steal from the litter when the kittens were about a month old. She wanted a baby.

We have those kinda canals here in Albuquerque. Invariably, it seems almost every time there's a heavy rain, you see fire crews rescuing some schmucks who get washed in. If you didn't rescue them, you remove a fail safe. Then more people would take heed, if more people died.
