(CNN)   You'd you think a 6ft tall robotic guitarist with 78 fingers could create music that didn't sound like it was made with Mario Paint   (cnn.com) divider line 20

I'd I have to think about that.

That's neat and all, but if you want to show off your robots, TURN ON THE FARKING LIGHTS. I don't want 5 1/2 minutes of extreme closeups of the guitarist's multiple picks and actuating rods, and maybe a shadowy shot or two of what is apparently the drummer. Jesus, people want to see how this shiat looks and how it works, you had about 4 minutes too much of slow pans across the working of the guitar.

Video sucked, in other words. It was interesting to hear the music, but someone doesn't know how to shoot interesting video.

Perfect for classical, jazz not so much.

Wow CNN, way to stay up to date on current events.

The idiotic flashing lights were totally unnecessary. I, too, would have like to see the robots.
Incidentally, I imagine that the noise in the performance room must have been considerable, what with all those pneumatic actuators.

Sounds like a midi file playing bad 80s "Jazz Guitar" patches on a Casio.

You may be right but I'll tell you this:  he's really popular with the groupies.  All of them.   At the same time.

Squarepusher f*cking rules and I will not hear otherwise.

Yay. A pick at every position and a finger at every fret point on every string. *yawn*

Ghastly: Sounds like a midi file playing bad 80s "Jazz Guitar" patches on a Casio.

Ever see the stuff they are doing with Synthesia?  Way better than the MIDI that I'm used to seeing.

Here's a fairly accurate version of a piece in Synthesia.
And here's someone screwing around with it (misattributed as Death Waltz)

And, of course, played on a guitar.  Let's see a robot look like it is having this much fun.

/that guy has righteous talent

Hey, I like Mario Paint. Those hearts and drums helped me learn how to create a beat, the knowledge of which I have never used again.

Preach it!

I really dug the song in the video. You can tell it was written by him, definitely. I'm getting this EP as soon as it drops next month.

I was gonna say I reckon Jason Becker in the 80s would have put their speed claims to the test!

Also I loved the video. I don't need to see how they work, I know how robots work and what they are. They did a good job creating a nice atmosphere. Shame about the music. I hope the next video is of the robots playing their own music. Otherwise when they take over what will we listen to?
