Except, as far as we know, nobody has taken credit, no phone communications were received, and no sign of the plane anywhere,,, it's like an Austin Powers movie.

2014-03-15 04:20:15 AM
Ifit actually did end up somewhere other than where it was going then certainly radar et al in the path and destination would have had an extra (and unknown) plane to account for.

Which leads me to believe if hijacked by terrorists, their plan is not yet complete.  Or perhaps hijacked for the purpose of ransom or theft and not necessarily terrorism.

Hijacking seemed to me less likely than mechanical failure of some kind.  But at least with hijacking we can hope the passengers are still alive.

We will be lucky if that plane doesn't turn up later, flying into an American or British city loaded with things that go BOOM.

great, and now they've changed the story to include information from Mar 15 press conference.

oh well, the url still stands as being a 2 day old article that they've just updated/re-wrote.

here's better link with video of the press conference:

Maybe the plane fell into the ocean because it was in the air and then it stopped planing and then it floatinged for awhile and sunked.

How is the news old? It's the most current update on all the news sites.

2014-03-15 04:39:22 AM
Prime Minister Najib Razak of Malaysia announced on Saturday afternoon that Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 left its planned route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing a week earlier as the result of deliberate action by someone aboard.

How does a hijacker cause a flight to leave a week early?

This is the Prime Minister of Malaysia officially stating today (Saturday) that the plane was deliberately diverted.

Which is the same news they'e been saying the past few days. What part is new?

So the co-pilot was prone to opening the cockpit doors to pretty women. If this was known because of social media beforehand, then it could have been used to the advantage of someone with nefarious plans. Simply stick a beauty in there as bait.

Granted officials (Malaysia, US, etc.) have theorized that the plane may have been hijacked, but now it's been stated officially by the Prime Minister. That's what is new.

Wouldn't something flying into a high pressure front seem equivalent to dropping tens of thousands of feet at once to a barometer? That's why altitude gauges are so finicky.

Maybe someone will create a gravity gauge sensitive enough to always show true altitude but robust enough to work on a jet someday.

Iranian smugglers, false passports, route taking it in the direction of Iran? Maybe they smuggled the plane?

Also, if you're going to hijack a plane for money, or politics, wouldn't it be better to hijack a plane full of people actually worth something? First worlders, anyhow.

Well, if Mainland Chinese are able to afford flying to a foreign country, generally it means their original job isn't being a coolie back in China.

In fact, there could be a number of very well off business people on the flight.

This whole thing is obviously just a distraction from the War on Bronies. Every day there are bronies being made fun for their My Little Pony backpacks and nobody is doing anything about it. It's just some guys who like a show, big deal, that doesn't give you right to exercise your right to speech, because that right is wrong. People need to realize that you are not allowed to make fun of bronies, because they are the same as football fans. But you are allowed to make fun of football fans. *Combs rainbow pony's hair* Now say goodnight to rainbow pony it is way past her bedtime, yes it is, yes it is! Please come snuggles with Papa! *cuddles rainbow pony*

Yep.  I was looking for the clip where the pilot says something like, "we're not going to Bermuda, are we?"  ;)

I fail to see how hijacking a plane, flying it around until the fuel gets low, and then crashing it into the ocean does anything to further some terrorist cause. It's a done deal, the plane and the passengers are gone, which means there is no leverage. It's more akin to a kid stealing a car for a joyride and wrapping it around a power pole. Just pointless. Did they not think their cunning plan all the way through?
