Getting a kick, etc.

This stuff doesn't happen often, thankfully.

I realize people aren't perfect, and mistakes happen, but this sort of thing really should permanently disqualify you from driving.

I've never understood people who have driving issues like this. If you you can't drive from point A to point B without getting frantic and crashing, you have no reason to be behind the wheel of a car.

Where do you get that she passed?

From TFA:  The woman said she wasn't hurt but was dismayed that she forced the closure of the DMV and that she would have to postpone her test.

California DMV is a satanic entity. I always write my registration renewal check to "The Satanic DMV".

I traveled to Corte Madera to not have to renew my license at the totally creepy San Francisco office. Turns out that Corte Madera's "computers were down for the rest of the afternoon" and that I could not renew my license that day.

I had a girlfriend who scared the tester so badly that he passed her - so he wouldn't have to ride with her next time she took the test.  First thing she did was high-center her car over the concrete stop in her parking space.  She'd already done that once with me in the car, the day before ;)

In Driver's Ed. class, one of my classmates panicked when a cement truck pulled out in front of her.  She immediately took both hands off the wheel, covered her eyes, and started screaming.  Our instructor was in the front seat with her.  He calmly reached over, turned off the car, then drove us all back to the school.  Class dismissed!!!!  ;)

/family still gives him sh*t.

And chances are when there isn't someone testing her in the car she'll be on her cellphone or one of the other various distractions drivers can get involved in...so she'll become 100x more lethal to everyone around her.

The combination of these is why my wife doesn't drive.  She'll be the girl screaming every time a truck comes near, but she trust others to drive.  Although there has been times she about screamed when it was nothing.

As for the girl in the article, I wouldn't want to be her that day.  Having a fresh group of 16 yros waiting to kick her butt for making them wait another day.

Going to those places to get your license and watching those behind the desk "working for you" (riiiight!) is like watching a ballet in slow-motion.

When they saw the car headed for them made them actually move faster than they ever had,

DNRTFA, but shiat like this happens all the time.  I used to work next to a big vacant lot on which the other side of said lot held the DMV.  I often looked out my office window and saw long lines queuing up in the mornings and although I never actually saw any accidents happen, I saw accidents being cleaned up after.

Ha ha!  Someone going to take their driving test failed again!

Yeah, not that funny really.  I'm not even sure if it's ironic.  I sort of doubt it.

I learned something from working there though.  For all you people who whine about long lines at the DMV, try going on a Wednesday in the middle of the month, but NOT at lunch time.  Don't go when they first open either.  Go on the middlest Wednesday of the month about 10 AM or anytime after 2.   There will be no line.

Your choice, pal.  If you go at 8 AM on the first Monday of the month, you've just signed up for a hellacious wait.

/CSB
After working there for about 6 months, I decided I should probably register my car since my out of state plates had expired.

I filled out a form and they asked me one question.  "Do your lights and horn work?"

They did and I told them they worked, but they didn't even bother to make sure.  Why not?  They asked me this while I was sitting in my car!

/AZ
//A few months later a small scandal ensued because some employees of the DMV were handing out licenses to illegal immigrants for a small fee on the side.
///I have a couple of photos of some imaginative ways the AZ DMV flew the flag.  They once put the AZ flag over the US flag.  Another time they flew the AZ flag upside down.
////Hooray for Maricopa County!
////AZ actually calls it the MVD rather than the DMV - same farking thing though, but with an extra helping of corruption and incompetence
//Had I not had the good sense to flee from AZ, my driver's license would have been valid for decades.    Actually, that's the one good thing about AZ.  Why should I have renew my license every 4 years where I live now?  It's not like I'm going to forget how to drive.
