If you're going to get someone that grabs balls for a living to talk about healthcare, it should be a urologist.

Oh sure because THAT will certainly persuade the particular people opposed to it.

Hi, I'm NBA superstar LeBron James. Are you young, healthy and have disposable income?

How long before he takes his talents to another healthcare act?

That's awesome. Good on him.

Nothing will get Tea Partiers to sign up.  Or at least to admit that they've signed up for it.

But there are a ton of young people that don't pay enough attention to the world to know how to sign up, or that deadlines are approaching.  It's probably worth the advertising expense to try with such a well-known commodity.

Maybe he could mention life insurance while he's in there.  The rates balance well against the odds of a problem at that age-- it's actually a better buy than most people get even after you correct for that.

You know, I really didn't believe there was anyone out there who could pay so little attention that they didn't even know any of this existed or had occurred, but a cousin of mine who "can't get a job and has no health insurance" wasn't aware of it as of about a week ago.  Kinda shocked me.

Either way, good on Lebron.

Healthcare? I'd be all like "NotSureIfSerious.jpg", but you're the guy that responds to people on Fark with differing opinions by offering to help them commit suicide.

I was telling my dad today about my easy healthcare.gov experience and super-subsidized premiums (hooray near poverty!) and a table near us overheard me and was clearly shocked that anyone could go to healthcare.gov without being stabbed by shadowy government overlords or something.

I wonder what plan he went with, what his deductible is and how much his co-pays are. It must be comforting knowing his family now won't suffer financial hardship if he has to see a doctor, even though he makes less than $300,000 per game.

SWISH! -nothing but net recipients

/Hey kids, LeBron and Barry know how stupid you are, so how about paying $10 for something worth $5 so others can pay $5 for something worth $10?  Just cancel your phone and cable and you'll have almost enough right there!

So the idea is to have a very disliked player promote an unpopular law? Genius!

If you what you mean by very disliked is the player with the number 1 selling NBA jersey and by unpopular law you mean a law that the majority of Americans approve of, then I guess it is.

We should just keep people uninsured so they use the emergency room as a free clinic since you don't seem to mind paying for it.

It's not what we should do, it's what they are going to do.  They won't, that makes the idea not practical. Need a better idea.

How did Massachusetts get young people to sign up to RomneyCare?

I farking hate Lebron.

Also, does Obama know what the purpose of a spokesman is? Lebron doesn't bridge the gap at all to the people he needs to reach.

Well for one they didn't have a whole political party doing everything that they could to make it fail, including in some areas making it illegal to give people information about it or have outreach programs for it.

They should have chosen a psychopath that cares more about insurance and drug corporations profits than the health of other human beings?

kinda a trick question. I don't think it's doing so well. Also Boston has the longest waits for a specialist in the country. Not like Britain or Canada long, but long. like 70 days on average.

What people do you think he needs to reach? The people that would poke their eyes out if Obama said eye pokes are bad for eyes? It is probably a better idea to reach the folks that watch the NBA. Those people might sign up.

Besides Congress sent letter to the NBA, NFL, MLB, and NHL threatening them if they promoted the affordable health care. Obama just did the next best thing. He is probably going to hit up Wilson when he comes to the white house.

Any success with a young demographic is going to be another gut punch to the GOP.

For differing opinions? No dont be silly. Id only advocate suicide to some pussy who whines like a gutshot panther over nothing on the reg. It'd be humane to end a life like that. It cannot be a fun life for the person living it abnd it obviously degrades the life quality of anyone in the near vicinity. Crybagging needs more suicides not differing opinions. Opinions are fine. Crying constantly to anybody who will listen is not.

Does majority mean less than half now?  http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/other/obama_and_democrats_hea l th_care_plan-1130.html

My insurance went up a smidge, not moreso than it would have without reform, but I do know people whose insurance has gone up substantially despite what some jag-off in Washington might claim.
