fark that biatch.
I wouldn't completely disown her but she wouldn't get another dime of my money.
She needs to learn that she can't bully people into doing what she wants them to do.

Allowing your children to experience the consequences of their actions, even if it hurts, is being a good parent. I suspect that these parents failed at that for the first eighteen years, which is why we're reading about this self absorbed little princess, but better late than never.

I cut my parents off because they were horrible. You sound like someone who just "takes it" because you don't think there's an alternative. There is: you're a big boy now, YOU decide whom is and is not in your life.

How did you get your comment from Walker's?

But I'd do the same, and tell her she is not going to have a second chance to sure me by establishing that she lives at my home and having a much stronger claim to my being responsible for her.

Horrible parenting would be to reward her for her actions. I've seen firsthand in my own family how that works out.

You sound like an enabler.

Turning my back on my kid would take some serious wrongdoing on her part. But I haven't spoken to my mother and stepfather for almost 20 years. Walked out when I was 18 and never looked back. They did the same to me. He was an abusive fark to both my brother and to me, and she supported him. Good enough reason for you?

I don't disagree, but there are lines, and this kid crossed them.  Before taking her back, I'd have a long, harsh discussion with her to make sure she gets that.

I have a friend who had to kick out her adult daughter.  She'd been warned that her pedophile friend could never be left alone in the house, especially if the other kid was home.  You can guess what happened.  The adult daughter is now back at home, getting the help and support she still needs, and doing awesome, but she had to come to terms with what she had done first.

Haha...   Good luck with that.  You'd think that, being a lawyer, he would know that you can't sue for legal fees for a suit that YOU initiated and got thrown out!
It only works that way when you win, and it's included in the settlement.

How? A minimum wage job isn't supposed to be a "living wage" -- remember? And without a college degree, minimum wage is supposedly all you can get. So how does one get the kind of job to save for a college degree without a college degree?

You can't. So you need loans. To get decent loans (or sometimes any loans at all), you need a decent credit score. That means you need credit. Or you need a cosigner (a parent). If you don't have either of those, you'll have to build credit with your minimum wage job (somehow).

My bet is that you're not a youngster. Upward mobility no longer exists; college is way more expensive; and wages haven't risen to match inflation. People are poorer now than they used to be.

College isn't for the kind of people who have to work their way through it. Our society has seen to that.

I am late so this may have been covered but she accused her dad of being kinda pervy tword her. I love my daughter but that would be pretty difficult to just get over. I am not saying I would not reconcile with her but it would be difficult to have her living back in the house again, those kind of accusations can ruin a guys life.

Lady Indica: She's moving back home because she didn't get what she wanted in court and her friend's Daddy sure as shiat wasn't going to pay for and support her through college.

She accused her father of being a pervert and perving on her, and left vile voice mails that she wanted to shiat on her parents faces. She went back to get the money she couldn't get through the courts. Teens are nuts, but this one...wow. Sociopathic levels.

Parents are stuck w/ Hobson's choice. She hasn't graduated HS yet, has such a sense of entitlement and affluenza that she's unlikely to be able to hit the ground running and get a job (or two) and a place, etc. She's incapable of taking care of herself, and that means her options if they don't take her back are pretty obvious. Plus most parents love their kids and care about them even when they're ungrateful little shiats like this one.

She'll go to college and maaaaybe work a year or two to find and marry a rich man...may whatever gods he believes in have mercy on his soul.

For some reason I see her in her mid 30s on her 3rd marriage.

I agree.

This whole thing cracks me up.  When growing up my parents always said "When you turn 18, you are an adult and do what you want, just don't expect me to come bail you out for doing something stupid."...and they kept their word, I spent several nights in a cell after that.

It was funny though, day of my 18th I walked into the house with a case of beer and put it in the fridge (no I'm not old enough to where 18 was legal).  I moved out probably 2 weeks later to go to college (paid for by me).  Looking back I was really almost entirely independent by 15.

I think their method of parenting worked out well for me.  I may have toed the line towards career criminal, overdose or addict for some time but I certainly had a sense of personal responsibility and my fair share of consequences of my actions.

I know so many parents who refuse to let their kids fall...and ultimately their kids suffer in the longterm for it.

Also, forget about going to college next year- I'd ship her ass to AmeriCorps. You think you have problems? Have fun teaching kids to read in Harlem.

Not a bad idea. PLus, don't they get scholarships or financial aid for volunteering? Learn what "real life" is like and get college paid for. Win-Win
