Her BFF's dad - the one she moved in with - is a lawyer and former County Commissioner.  He's footing that bill but suing her parents to recover it all.

How did you get your comment from Walker's?

But I'd do the same, and tell her she is not going to have a second chance to sure me by establishing that she lives at my home and having a much stronger claim to my being responsible for her.

Horrible parenting would be to reward her for her actions. I've seen firsthand in my own family how that works out.

You sound like an enabler.

Oh, you want to go to college? Get a job and save up for it yourself you dumb coont.

No wonder so many kids are living with their parents into their 40's now. Coddling and paying for everything for them doesn't teach them shiat about how to survive on their own. There's a reason birds push fledglings out of the nest.

She suffers from Affluenza. Most kids living in Morris County, NJ suffer from it. There is a cure for Affluenza. It's called a WOODEN SPOON. They sell them in Bergen County.

Haha...   Good luck with that.  You'd think that, being a lawyer, he would know that you can't sue for legal fees for a suit that YOU initiated and got thrown out!
It only works that way when you win, and it's included in the settlement.

I cut my parents off because they were horrible. You sound like someone who just "takes it" because you don't think there's an alternative. There is: you're a big boy now, YOU decide whom is and is not in your life.

I don't disagree, but there are lines, and this kid crossed them.  Before taking her back, I'd have a long, harsh discussion with her to make sure she gets that.

I have a friend who had to kick out her adult daughter.  She'd been warned that her pedophile friend could never be left alone in the house, especially if the other kid was home.  You can guess what happened.  The adult daughter is now back at home, getting the help and support she still needs, and doing awesome, but she had to come to terms with what she had done first.

If I were her dad, I would have a hard time not being smug about her getting her ass handed to her in a court of law. Grow up, princess, and be grateful for the nice things that mommy and daddy have done for you.

Um, I don't think you know what "enabling" means. And forcing her to live somewhere else is not "turning your back" on her.

You're making far too many assumptions.

Unless the suit was brought forward within two days of her moving out, the lawyer ain't got a case against the parents. If I was her parents, I'd be sure to let daughter dearest know that the bill is all hers, she's 18. Happy birthday and welcome to adulthood.
