Well, you complain when they try to destroy it, but make fun of them if they ever tried to help?  Maybe this person knows more about the problems since they were on the inside?

A job is a job, I can seperate that from my politics. You pay me enough money I will design up gas chambers to go into Obama's fema reeducation camp... which I would probably be thrown in the moment I opened my mouth but hey work is work.

Who is surprised when conservatives turn out to be hypocritical liars these days? Headline might as well say, "it's Friday."

Wait, so his defense is "But it was a do-nothing job for a fancy-sounding title"?

I've seen his really terrible ads on tv here and they remind me of Clint Webb.

This guy is the Republican who kicked off his campaign by saying we should make the Nebraska the capital of the U.S. He was running ads during The Daily Show and Colbert Report for weeks here in Nebraska promoting this idea too, it wasn't just some off the cuff remark in an interview. I've been seeing a ton of signs and bumper stickers for him here in Lincoln. Sigh...

On the Twitters, I saw something being passed around that this guy has Sarah Palin's endorsement.  I couldn't help but wonder whether or not he wants that sort of thing.

Well...  I suppose, strategically, up until a hundred years ago, it might have made some sort of sense to have it there.  Nice to see this cat is living firmly in the 19th Century.

Can you make a whole state the capital? So, the White House is here in Omaha, Congress meets in Lincoln and the Pentagon is North Platte. And that concludes my knowledge of Nebraska cities.

Personally, I'd find it funny, but wouldn't really care.  If that's the best job he could find to pay the rent, then that was the best job he could find to pay the rent.

However, I am not a Republican primary voter.

Yeah, I'm sure the good people of Nebraska wouldn't at all flip the fark out when the federal government announced that Lincoln was now under complete federal control and no longer part of Nebraska.

Whatever you tell yourself to keep voting -R.
You probably don't think it was wrong of Ayn Rand to accept welfare.

It's like the Republican strategy for 2014 is going to be almost exactly the same as 2012; "Repeal Obamacare!"

I wonder if it will be more of less effective this time around? It seems like they didn't get much traction with the issue in 2012, but mid term elections do seem produce a different playing field.

What will be interesting is if the messaging ever moves beyond repeal(!), and we get to hear what the alternative proposals are.

2014-03-14 11:57:48 AM
So now Republicans are attacking their own because they might have once worked? Or is this people on the left just stirring up shiat??

Who cares??!?!?!

Well...  I suppose, strategically, up until a hundred years ago, it might have made some sort of sense to have it there.  Nice to see this cat is living firmly in the 19th Century.

Not really. Most of the people still lived on the east coast (or Great Lakes), most of the transportation stopped in the midwest (the Golden Spike didn't get driven until 1869 - and correct me if I'm wrong, but there was still a section between the two rail lines that had to be done by wagon; I may be confusing two "trans-continental" railroads), and there was no infrastructure in NE to speak of (comparatively speaking, when compared with DC).

So if they'd decided to move in 1870 and spent 40-50 years building a new capital, then it might have made sense to "move DC" to Nebraska in 1914. It makes more sense to do this now, but as there still aren't that many people in the midwest (compared with the coasts), all that would do would inconvenience residents of BOTH coasts, rather than just the one.

Makes more sense to do now, to me.

// that's not to say it makes sense now, but more sense with airplanes and "e-travel" (teleconferencing, etc)

Where the heck did THAT come from? I have been known to vote other than -R. And I read Atlas Shrugged, and really really wished she had enlisted the skills of an editor. That book is to reading like marathons are to walking. Sure you CAN do it, but you only do it so you can say you did.

We are seeing a lot of 'repeal obamacare' campaign ads in Omaha from multiple candidates.  This is much more derptastic than usual.

And it's already nonsensical since Heineman wouldn't take the Medicaid expansion, nor did we set up a state exchange.

The GOP candidates in Nebraska are all rabidly anti-Obama.  You don't even have to ask them, it's the first thing they say when entering a room.  They're fallin over each other to prove they are more conservative.  I don't even know if there is a choice of someone that isn't of that mentallity.

/Could be worse though, we could have the far right loonies that run all the states south of here.

Better than most Nebraskans. I'd give you a B+ only because you didn't mention Kearney or Hastings or Grand Island.
