(AOL (UK))   At least 29 million drivers suffer from "accident anxiety" so acute they are afraid to drive. Here's a compilation of dashcam footage suggesting that their fears might be reasonable   (cars.aol.co.uk ) divider line

At least two of those have absolutely nothing to do with driving, or even traffic.

Yeah, close calls are not keeping me from driving.

Heck, I check a certain russian site daily, because some shiat that goes down there is mindboggling and not everything is a result of bad drivers.

I was rear ended by a distracted driver a couple years ago and I still kinda have a little PTSD about it, i get nervous and angry when people tailgate me or speed up behind me suddenly.

A direct link to YouTube would have cheapened the experience.

So the lesson is therefore:  don't drive in Russia.  I think I can manage that.

Russians should never be allowed to drive. EVER.

The saddest part is when you see people walk out in front of traffic and cause an accident and then just keep walking like it's not their f#cking problem.

Hmmm.  Pedestrians really need to stay the hell off the road, and when they are on the road, go quickly and pay attention.  Drivers, you need to slow down and proceed with caution when you approach a pedestrian cross walk.

I'm actually surprised there weren't more clips of bicycle related accidents on there.  It really annoys me that there's no law (or no apparently upheld law) dictating how and where you can ride a bike.  Some people ride on the side walks, some ride on the side of the road, and others ride right down the middle of a lane.  There are people that ride along with traffic, others that ride against it.  There's no rhyme or reason, so whether you're a pedestrian walking on the sidewalk, or a driver on the road, when cyclists come into the picture, chaos ensues, and accidents become so much more likely.

Here is the one I look at in Russian so you don't know what your getting.  http://ru-chp.livejournal.com/

It is a mixed bag.  Dashcam, surveillance, cell phone, whatever about accidents, poor pedestrians, crime, drunken fist fights, whatever.  Some of the content can be NSFW and WTF at times.  Some is boring. But it is usually new so if something disappoints, there is always the next video.  Great way to kill time.

the best videos are the ones where they just get out of the car and completely beat the shiat out of each other. Which is nearly all of the videos.

The first deer clip reminded me of a similar close call I had.  We were going eastbound I-69 in Lapeer county at 80 mph in the left lane, I had just passed someone, when I saw the deer from a distance.  First one deer then I saw the second deer, but for some reason I knew to stay doing what I was doing.  There were four deer crossing, I split the group between the second and third deer with less than 3' of clearance from both deer, still at 80 mph.  I knew my wife was about to freak out, so I told her "Honey, it's okay, I have this."

The clip of the dog and white car, reminds me of the time I saw my dog do the same thing with a truck running bob-tail.  He slipped between the axles as the truck was going 45, I thought my dog was going to die.  He went under the truck at the front bumper and popped out between the rear axles.

Here's the Russian Dash Cam video site I visit quite regularly, a new video is usually added at least once a month.

I also like how the last clip is usually of a small animal getting rescued from the crazy Russian drivers.

You do know that until the 1960's laws ALWAYS fell on the pedestrian side. In the 30's and 40's if a driver injured a pedestrian it was there fault, regardless. Now I know times have changed, but we realized in the 60's if we had slower speed limits we have far less car on non car accidents, and Big Motor realized they'd lose sales if cars were limited to a certian degree the top speed for city to city travel...so they pushed for this big 'Be Aware' of cars campagn and used goverment propoganda to push the guilt and blame on the person NOT driving a speeding piece of death metal.
