Fluid: By which they probably mean "the criminal had a Twitter account".

It's the usual "criminal brags about crimes on the internet" stories, only with Twitter instead of YouTube and Facebook.

Nick Pickles. That is, by far, the best name in the history of mankind.

Shoplifting? Hmmmm, Log in to Amazon with a Twitter alias, drag and drop an item into my virtual hidden pocket, log out before anyone sees me. Sounds like a plan.

Wow, this guy can't be for real:

Nick Pickles, from Big Brother Watch, said: 'Police forces have been prone to heavy-handed reactions simply because something has been posted on Twitter or Facebook when, if it happened in the street, it would be ignored. This risks seriously chilling freedom of speech.'

Okay Ms Pickles, if you yell out that you have committed a crime and even start handing out photographic evidence to anyone passing ...what the hell did you think was going to happen?  Its farking twitter, the very definition of standing on a soapbox with a megaphone trying to get everyone's attention.  There is no risk to freedom of speech, you are still perfectly welcome to implicate yourself in a crime, just if you do it with the above method there's a greater chance that someone will call you on it.

You idiot.

And I'm sure the fact that twitter is 2-3x larger now has absolutely nothing to do with this.

Twitter has clearly become a public menace and should be shut down immediately.

What do you all think it means that when someone says, "increased by 390%" I automatically think that what that means is that it went from 10 to 49.
