Also known as political messaging for people who actually think

I'm assuming subby means people who don't think too hard, because all those posters are sad.

This is why people think leftists are pussies.

Paint your posters in the blood of reactionaries.

2014-03-14 11:04:15 AM
Those are not "progressive" messages. They are 14-year-old boy's slogans.

2014-03-14 11:06:51 AM
That was bad and subby should feel bad.

Retro pro-feminist propaganda poster?  Why do you have to remix one?

The original was already pretty feminist.  Especially for the early 40's.

"Every 12 year-old boy's pre-adolescent fantasy"? Redundant much?

I've noticed that, too - pretty much all of Flo's coworkers are white.

So, without hesitation, I simply answered, "Human." That brought the conversation to a halt. I smiled, chuckled, then made a quick exit to the kitchen. My work there was done, for I had forced people to deal with an element that did not fit in with their ego-reinforced world views.

Then everyone stood up and applauded, as I tipped my fedora and gave a knowing nod to Edward Snowden.

At least it makes it easier to add to the list of links not to click, like WND and Bleacher Report.

While attending a dinner party one night that I would rather not have been attending, a heated political debate began. After listening to standard rhetoric from both sides of the aisle, someone finally looked at me and said, "Are you Democrat or Republican?"

My standard response to this question is, "Fark no!"

I'll take fun things to say to screw with polling firms.

I would have also accepted "American" and "Negative, I'm a meat Popsicle"

Don't quote me on it, but I think web sites can make their own FARK tags and embed it in their website's coding. FARK's submit-a-link then grabs it.

Can someone (seriously, I'm a teacher and need them) give me the other side's propaganda when it comes to climate change (and Monsanto). I need some that show the other side. I don't want to call it regressive, nor conservative (which implies conservation) unless that is what it actually is.

Short: Looking for right-wing climate/environmental propaganda to show my students.

It looked like I was about to be used to defend someone's position simply by claiming an affiliation, which was a role I did not want to take on. So, without hesitation, I simply answered, "Human." That brought the conversation to a halt. I smiled, chuckled, then made a quick exit to the kitchen. Polling firm: And do you favor higher taxes on higher incomes?
meat0918: GIMME DA CASH!
PF: I want to ask you now about the social safety net. Do you generally prefer assistance to come in the form of coupons (such as SNAP), cash transfers, or neither (including "I do not support a broadened safety net")?
meat: Chick-en. Good.
PF: What are your thoughts on gun control? Do you favor mandatory background checks?
meat: Say, that's a nice gun.
PF: Mmmmhmmm. Turning to the question of voting, do you prefer laws that require you to show ID when you vote?
meat: Leeloo Dallas multipass.
PF: Do you support making English the national language?
meat: I only speak 2 languages - English and Bad English.
PF: Lastly, what are your feelings about religious freedom?
meat: AZIZ, LIGHT!

Karac: Retro pro-feminist propaganda poster?  Why do you have to remix one?

[www.singularitynyc.com image 850x1099]
The original was already pretty feminist.  Especially for the early 40's.

Arguably it sort of wasn't. It was whipped up by Westinghouse because productivity fell once they started introducing a large number of inexperienced female workers. To get their war time production rates back up to "normal" they had the posters comissioned. It was largely intended to rally women to work faster because they weren't producing at the same rate as the male workers they replaced. It didn't really become a thing unti lthe 80s. From wiki

"The intent of the poster was to keep production up by boosting morale, not to recruit more women workers. It was shown only to Westinghouse employees in the Midwest during a two-week period in February 1943, then it disappeared for nearly four decades. During the war, the name "Rosie" was not associated with the image, and it was not about women's empowerment. It was only later, in the early 1980s, that the Miller poster was rediscovered and became famous, associated with feminism, and often mistakenly called "Rosie The Riveter".

Somewhat interestingly also, the woman whose photo it was based on only worked for Westinghosue for 2 weeks before quitting to become an somewhat accomplished cellist.

While attending a dinner party one night that I would rather not have been attending

...no one really wanted to invite me to because I'm a smug asshole, but they were pressured into it by a mutual friend because, "he doesn't get out much."

The only one I liked was "A woman's place is in the House... and the Senate." I started rolling my eyes once I saw the Guy Fawkes stuff.

"Congress: You can't fix stupid". Yea, that's really intelligent discourse right there.
