These cakes are usually more icing and fondant than cake proper. Not good to eat.

More like it tries to kill you with Diamond Saw and Sandstorm.

I know you gentlemen have been through a lot, but if it's all the same to you, I'd rather not spend the rest of this winter STUCK IN THIS FARKING CAKE!

I really enjoyed the Thing prequel from a few years ago.  Like all movies, though, I'm sure that feeling is not universal.

I thought it was good.  I especially liked the tie-in at the end to the older version.

It would have been a lot better had I not been trying to figure out what Ramona Flowers was doing in the arctic.

Yeah. I have an issue with them being able to call these things "cakes", since they rarely have anything resembling cake batter in them. They're more like "mildly edible fondant, cardboard, and crispy rice goop sculptures".

I know you chefs have baked a whole lot, but when you find the time, I'd rather not spend the rest of this winter EATING TO THIS FUKING CAKE!

I agree on the first part, but most people hate fondant because they eat that factory pre-made crap that has no real flavor.

I make my fondant myself. My two favorite types to make are white chocolate and marshmallow (I make a mean chocolate fondant and usually use it as my base for black fondant, but of the two, white chocolate is probably my favorite. If you can stand to work with it in the right temperature setting, butter cream fondant is pretty cool to work with. It tastes more like regular cake frosting more than any of them.

If done correctly, fondant isn't disgusting at all.  However, I do agree that most that I have tried are.

If she did her marshmallow fondant correctly, there's a few other things you add to it that enhance the flavor. And using a stand mixer with a dough hook is the best way to kneed fondant.

I like using fondant for decoration more than for the whole cake. I love working with whipped frosting those when I can... Only because it's like delicious as hell and you can do some pretty neat things with it.

I made this cake for Christmas and all the fondant in this picture. Simple cake, but still.

I have a picture of my niece's sweet 16 cake around here somewhere. She wanted a freaky looking music/cabaret meets Alice in Wonderland sort of cake. That was pretty awesome, but I can't really do many cakes like that any more because of the arthritis in my hands. It was completely covered in white chocolate and chocolate fondant with chocolate butter cream for the lower layer. Three tier cake with the base a 14" round.

My daughter wanted a dragon for her sweet 16 cake two years ago, and I had to go through a baker because my hands were so bad that I couldn't do it. They didn't do a bad job... just wished I could have done it. It broke my heart that I couldn't make it for her.

Here's a little secret that today's "cake makers" don't tell you... fondant tastes like crap.

Find an old school baker and get a cake that actually tastes kick-ass.

Jason Biggs should've replaced his desert for this cake in American Pie.  Director's Cut, maybe?

It was quite well done. And while I am sure that a few people will rag on it, I see more than a few here enjoyed it too.
