(Examiner)   Racy pics ruin Jennette McCurdy's career? If you mean 'ruin' as in 'get previously-elusive massive exposure across all forms of online and offline media', then yeah, sure, I guess 'ruin' could be the right word   (examiner.com) divider line 65

Geez, that article is one big advertising assault.  Thanks, subby.

Way to ruin it for everyone,  Andre.

I mean, don't get me wrong - I appreciate that you shared those awesome shots, but it's still totally not cool.

Well it sounds like she's quite the party hound and a problem for the current kids show that she's still on.

Cute as heck but seems to be starting to fall down the typical child actress road, thanks to improper adult attention when younger.

I think the real question we need to be asking is why am I only just now hearing about these pictures?

2014-03-13 08:49:57 AM
I didn't know who she was before these pics came out. That said, she is not hot and by the time she hit 23 she will be a cow.

They were nice but hardly racy, Renee Olstead cornered that market years ago.  GIS if you don't believe me.  NSFW should be obvious.

There are a shiatload of pics with Jenette McCurdy doing all kinds of freaky stuff.

They're photoshopped, but wtf...

The last actress to have her career ruined by the release of racy pictures was Audrey Hepburn.

She's going to turn into a cow sometime in the next 15 months. Interesting.

My daughter is only 7, so S&K is our family's only exposure to those characters. But she seems to be entertained by the show, so hopefully this nonsense subsides. If Britney Spears. Miley Cyrus, Venessa Hudgens, and Selena Gomez didn't tank Disney's sponsorship or viewership... Somehow I don't think Jennette's few pictures are going to harm Nickelodeon that much.

Yeah, her leaked photos catapulted her from "who" to "top of my free five list." As far as fantasies go, it seems like she'd be a hell of a lot of fun.

This.

At least Vanessa Hudgens 1) really delivers, and 2) is like clockwork releasing the sweet stuff before a new film comes out.
Jennette McCurdy?  Meh.  Lame selfies are desperate.

Gee, hot 21-year-old actress who has only appeared in shows geared at little kiddies (which means she would probably only ever get cast in such shows in the future) suddenly has very hot (but still not porn) pictures of her "leaked".

Yeah, such a blow to her career.

It's cheaper then headshots... and honestly as it's so common, does create the perfect buffer between kids' show star, and what work they do that's not suitable for children... if they just went right from one to the other, and then some kid's all like "zomg i love this kids show star and they're in this movie about eye makeup" and suddenly there's some media uproar about the kid's parents be all outraged that their kid was watching  Pillow Fight Massacre 4.

Doesn't surprise me. That show kinda sucks, mostly because of the Kat character.

I caught my son watching iCarly back when he was 13.  I asked him which of the girls was the reason he watched the show, and he turned bright red.  So I sat down and watched him watching, just to see who he had the hots for.

Five minutes into episode, I realized that a LOT of the humor was designed to go right over the heads of the kid audience.  Which lead to a couple of disturbing thoughts: 1) that means that Disney (or whoever made the show) had to have KNOWN that a significant fraction of the show's audience was made up of pervy old dudes creeping out to the sight of veal cutelettes, and 2) that means that they INTENTIONALLY put humor into the show that only those same pervy old dudes would get.  In other words, iCarly is like My Little Pony except that instead of Bronies, you get iCreepsters.

Well doing shows for kids might be over but if she is smart she can parley this into more adult and flexible roles.

I think you're underestimating your average kid and pre-teen viewers intelligence. I could see some of the jokes on the show going over the heads of younger kids, but I didn't see too many jokes that would have gone over your average 11-17 year old kid's (the prime demographic for many of Nickelodeon's live action shows) head.

That, plus it's probably easier for an adult writing staff to write adult humor instead of trying to figure out what a 13 year old would find funny. Humor designed by a committee and thoroughly focus group tested is not going to work.

my kids loved iCarly, and they've moved on to Jessie and Dog With a Blog and some other show.  anyways, i don't remember if it was Icarly or whatever, but i was watching one recently and one of the characters said something like -- they were trying to break into a high rise in some wacky sitcom trope by climbing up the building -- "come on my back" and one of hte characters makes a face.

now, i'm not saying the director told the kid, "make a quizzical face after ___ says that line, adn be on your mark", but.......yeah.  that happened.  "come on my back!"  *quizzical face*  i mean i guess the line could mean the kid doesn't think they can climb on the other kid's back, but.......yeah.

As a huge Spongebob fan who use to leave Nick on all the time, I'd often wake up to iCarly and in the 2 or 3 minutes before I found the remote,  I would think "Man, that girl is going to be drop dead gorgeous one day."... referring to Miranda Cosgrove.

But she still looks 12, and her 2nd fiddle is now hot as fark. Possibly the hottest blonde under 30 in the entire world.

So, when Rocky & Bullwinkle did the "Rub two Boy Scouts together?" joke, it was for the benefit of pervs?

Actually aka, Not Writing Down To Your Audience.  (If you treat the viewers as stupid, you get stupid viewers)
