What do people expect, a brand new car for free? This is a recall on cars 8-10 years old, they're going to replace the defective part for free, the $500 seems to be for people who would rather get rid of their car rather than have it fixed. I'm surprised they even offered the discount at all.

I'd like to have one of those Corvettes, please. To go.

Hell, I wish Toyota was as nice.  My Corolla has had three recalled parts in the last year and a half and all they're offering is to replace and fix the parts for free.

That would be awesome. Do you know how much you could sell one of those for? Enough to buy something good I'm guessing.

I'm surprised it's so low, but being GM, I'm kinda not.  GM's got a LOOONG uphil battle to demonstrate that their brands are worth a damn, and recalling 1.6 million cars for a defect that has genuine safety concerns isn't doing anything to help that.  At this point, bribery is all they really have left, and you can squeeze 500 on a new car purchase out of a dealer with your eyes closed.

If this is how GM conducts business, I'm glad I own a Nissan.

Yes, you deserve a new free vehicle, because your 8 year old car was recalled.
