UNAUTHORIZED FINGER: My grandfather knew Will Rogers. He didn't like him.

Will Rogers didn't like your grandfather? Why? What'd he do?

Heh, I'm guessing that you knew I was kidding. About the not "not liking him" part, that is. Because he did know him when he was a boy. They were both born in the same area in the Indian Territories, and Will Rogers was the same age and acquaintances with my great-grandfather, 21 years older than my grandfather.

If you gave me a perfect rope, a good pair of gloves and a big fence post, by the end of the day I  might be able to snag the post 3 out of 10 times from 10 feet away.  But I wouldn't bet on it.

Will Rogers left an amazing legacy, history, whatever.. as an Oklahoman.  That Rogers was not just a popular and well written "humorist" (imagine Will Rogers on the Web), but also a man with physical talent and well known for both in a time when the two together were usual (mostly still are).  Well, he's impressive.

Fitting, or just sad I guess, that he died in a plane crash with another amazing Oklahoman, Wiley Post.  Post helped pioneer the pressure suit for high altitude flight - could say it was a precursor to spacesuits. Now we've got two nice airports in Oklahoma City, each named for a guy who died in a plane crash.

Not an easy art to perfect, you can't just practice that in front of a mirror. I'm really impressed. WR was a very smart and funny guy, a self-made success and a true American original. Thanks to subby.
