That's what's there.

If that is indeed where they are reporting it, this may be speculation.

Yeah, but they also believe that MSG is good for you, so...

I was having fun with my theory that the plane was stolen. Everybody was in some bumfark airport in the middle of the jungle, safe and reasonably sound. Plane was off in Dubai or mainland China getting some new docs and paint.

Last line of article: "What is a transponder?"

Maybe you should have looked that up before you started writing an article about a missing airplane, CNN.

Simplest explanation that matches available data wins again, suckers.

They've known this since Monday?

I'm starting to think something is fishy.

I was about to ask someone if they ever found the jet. Apparently "maybe" is the answer.

Did anyone ever happen check under the Malaysian Airlines paint job for "Police Box Public Call"?

2014-03-12 08:29:36 PM
They tracked their missile to where it also disappeared?

2014-03-12 08:30:17 PM
Hopefully this pans out.  The not knowing must be hell on the family and friends and I'm sure they could really use the closure, as little consolation as that may be.

2014-03-12 08:30:45 PM
Could also be a boat from the Japanese tsunami disaster.  The  Navy  sank one a couple of weeks ago.

Time to figure out where we'll bury the survivors.

Old Man Winter: China just wants attention.

Most of the people on that plane are, alive or dead, Chinese.

2014-03-12 08:32:19 PM
It's not the Malaysian plane- It's actually just a cheap knock off of a much better designed plane crash.

2014-03-12 08:32:19 PM
So, the question would be "who's pilot freaked out and shot it down"?

Yeah, no state has EVER taken the time to make sure they knew what they were talking about before releasing information.

China planted some debris, took a lousy spy sat. picture of just so they can see how hig-res of an image the U.S. can produce.  They just want info on our spying capabilities.

Indeed.

1.  China is not about to report something that they aren't relatively certain of.  Pride and "saving face" seems to be quite important in Asian cultures.
2.  Takes time to paw through raw data, obviously.
3.  My guess is that China already has ships there or en-route (reports are Malaysian authorities haven't even seen these photos before their public release).  The majority of passengers were Chinese nationals and Malaysia has come off as rather incompetent through all of this.  Maybe China is saying "Yeah, we got this.  Go be Malaysian somewhere else."

I'm just waiting for the news that one of the people on the plane was traveling using the stolen passport of Amelia Earhart.

It was morning. Why did he say goodnight? This PROVES it was an alien lightning bolt from a Muslim meteor.

Sure, but an hour later China will just want to find another plane.

Weird video alongside the article. I appreciated hearing about the ocean depth and seeing the current vectors.

Also I am glad he took a stab at answering the question could those pieces come from the aircraft. But his answer was poor and terribly done.

And I'm not sure anyone is "going to go under the water to *salvage* the airplane"

So if that's the reason, why are they still not saying anything for sure about it?  Any why haven't any boats gone to the location?  I agree, it does sound fishy somewhat.

2014-03-12 08:41:20 PM
So China, using their spy satellite, finds the tail section of the plane, and knew about it since Monday and didn't bother telling the entire planet until now. That's....Odd.

What's funny will be seeing how the American right-wing echochamber will spin this development as being Obama's fault somehow.

I assume they will quickly build a factory and offer us cut-rate versions of the debris  Except actual human debris, which they will hold long enough to determine whether any found near the body is worth more for.

/me, consider the Chins a bit greedy?   No, of course not.  As long as they are not in sole possession of something you desire above all other things.  then, of course, all bets are off.

"Chinese government very sorry about loss of your (whisper) 'ichiban' son".  Have discovered what are .999 certain to be remains.  Process was expensive.  $25000 US, if you do not tell the US government.  Then costs go up.  Oh, so much up.

/the Chinese are the Ferengi of this planet.

Enhance... enhance... enhance... Yep- the tail section says 'Boing 778'- knock off.

Sent from my eyefone.

The Malaysian witch doctor was just hired and within hours they find the plane.

Coincidence?

Salvage might be a strong word, but if they do find the wreckage I can basically guarantee they'll send people down after it.

What part of a 777 would produce a piece of wreckage 79x72?

I once pinged a black box.

Actually the NSA and CIA know exactly what happened to the plane but revealing this information would tip everyone off about a super secret spying operation.

Won't they at least want to recover the black box?

The True Detective Syndrome has spilled over into this. It is just sad that people's expectations are so warped that they expect a twist in the outcomes of real life events. It was Marty's wife and her father's Yellow King cult.

A part with both a body section and a wing section.

The tail wingspan is about 71', so it's possible that's what they're looking at - tail wingspan and rear fuselage.

guywhore: What part of a 777 would produce a piece of wreckage 79x72?

A big chunk of the fuselage/wing box. Or a peeled out section of skin. Or it's a raft of smaller crap.

No individual peice, but I suspect there are lots of ways to get those dimensions to fit into the smashed hulk of a 777.
