SXSW is a good excuse to get the f*ck outta Austin. Too many goddamn hipsters as it is, and now this.
The frikkin' disc golf course was waaay too crowded yesterday.

I think he's close.

When I first started going to conferences, the format was a very brief intro and then q&a from the audience. Now it seems the format is as described in the article, and then should they ever actually get to audience q&a it's always in the last ten minutes.

And the audience q&a is where the real questions are asked.

The intros need to be limited to the first 10 minutes, the panel can talk back and forth for 15 minutes, and then give the audience the next half and hour.

Back in high school my friends and I would drive around 6th Street yelling "Record exec!" during SXSW and seeing how many heads turned. That was when SXSW was still in its infancy and was only mildly full of itself, courtesy of the Austin Chronicle, strident douchebags before strident douchebaggery was cool. Ahhh, good times, good times.

This latter one will presumably be a panel that slowly circles in on the conclusion "Um, yeah, I'm pretty sure."

And it will take place over 3-5 days, with a $500 registration fee, plus whatever you pay in hotels and parking. This is why I always take the tech tours over the lectures. I still get the CE credits and don't have to sit in a fart-filled room for several hours.

Just got back from sxsw interactive. It was pretty lame the only highlight was meeting and talking to a couple pinterest engineers.

Pfft.
Siting thru panel discussions is nothing compared to attending UAT for a computer system where the presenter was actually ENTERING THE DATA instead of using screen shots on a LIVE SYSTEM!!

"And this is where you enter your username...t-o-m....and then here is where you type your search click-click-click-click"

Aaaaaahh.

The whole thing was 20 seconds of talking followed by a minute of clicking, typing and waiting for the system to load.

/I do NOT get bored easily, let alone if with a smart phone and access to Fark. But that day I wished I could shoot myself. It was that painful

I just got back from the Congress / Riverside area. The sheer numbers of D-Bags is astounding. Leave your money on the floor, people.
Super impressed with how many plastic laminates you can dangle from your neck.

Who in holy hell goes to a panel discussion voluntarily? I'd rather have unnecessary exploratory surgery. My mother was right: go outside and get some fresh air.

I always love the panel discussions on suicide, or the military suicide briefs. Everyone I've ever talked to will have said those drive up suicide rates they are so farking boring.
