"Should have known EA would fail on release. Before taught me nothing," wrote HammerMcDoogan.

And this sentence perfectly encapsulates what's wrong with the industry.

"Booooo EA! You screwed me for the last time!"

"Oooooh I can't wait to get that! Surely they've learned their lesson!"

Almost six hours after Mr Hryb said Microsoft was aware of the issue, a tweet on the official Xbox Support account said the issues had been fixed.

Oh, the humanity.

From what I've heard Titanfall is only getting somewhat favorable views. Sounds like you've got stock CoD style play, stock storyline, stock weapons.

Personally I think my next big gaming purchase will be in VR.

To be fair, their servers crash on the release of single player games as well.

Save the money on XBone and just buy five copies of Dark Souls II.

Gamespot rated it at 9 out of 10, which indicates to me that its colour palette is primarily made up of shades of brown and that the game uses a health regeneration mechanic. Any game that lacks those two features typically scores poorly.

Good thing EA didn't learn anything from Sim City, then.

Exactly.  "Wahhhh!  This sucks!  I'm going to buy another EA game for $60!"

Played for a couple of hours last night. Overall, I enjoyed it. The action is very CoD-esque, but much more fast-paced. I had no real connection problems (yes, I know the plural of anecdotes is not data), and I had a lot of fun. I'm doing the campaign mode first, then into the "classic" mode. In all, I'm having fun, which is the point.

As far as EA is concerned, yeah, they've borked up big releases before (SimCity was the most recent big one), but I've enjoyed several of the games they've put out recently. Dead Space 1-3 was fun, as was the Mass Effect trilogy. Making Titanfall a multiplayer-only game is actually rather gutsy. Considering that quite a few of the gamers out there skip the single-player campaign in shooters these days and go straight to multiplayer, it isn't surprising the developers would cut out the single-player. They cut it out and focused solely on making it work in MP, and I think they succeeded. EA needs to up their game, though. After frigging up SimCity's release, they have a lot of trust to rebuild.

If you don't like FPS you won't like the new version of a FPS? I'm shocked!

Game is pretty average. For a CoD/BF style competitive multiplayer game, it refines the template a little bit, and is a speed-based game. Instant respawn, small maps, no god damned farking sniper camping (I hate spawning and getting 1 shot instantly). If you hate BF or CoD...it won't persuade you to love it. If you love either of those, it probably won't persuade you to stop.

The only way I could ever play CoD or BF was with friends. I played a few hours last night and it was ok. Fun, but not a game changing paradigm shift or anything like it was painted to be. I may play it a few times a week, but probably not. It doesn't do anything wrong, but overall it doesn't make much of a statement either. It lacks the squad mechanics of BF, it lacks the infinite unlocks and kill streaks of COD.

It's kinda limited too. Less than 10 guns, each with only a few unlocks, means after 12 hours or so you've basically got 80% or more unlocked. Not a huge variety of maps or game types, though I think it's actually a fairly standard number of 'launch' maps, about 10?

No you've got it backwards. While in hiding she and her little brother built an airplane out of a Radio Flyer wagon. That's what she used to fly around the world.

I reckon that the game types will evolve and more maps will be released. Some as paid DLC, and others as free, maybe. I suspect there will be more to come out of this. It has very much a Halo feel to it, and it has the potential for more than it is. There's DLC already scheduled, which works for me. You're right, though; if you aren't an FPS-fan, this is not the game for you.

Shrug. Everyone else I've explained it to using that exact terminology has understood perfectly.

You're arguing that a Ferrari is a completely different thing from a Porsche.

Yeah, this is all sorts of wrong. Titanfall uses the Microsoft Azure servers, not EA servers. And as far as I know, it was Xbox Live that went down, not the Titanfall servers.  http://www.geekwire.com/2014/xbox-live-dont-blame-titanfall/

I'm actually a pretty big FPS fan, if it's the right FPS. Big Halo fan, love playing Gears, played some CoD off and on but it was never my game.

Not that I was hoping for anything spectacular but it sounds way overhyped. At this point I'm really hoping that the games industry realizes they can't just put out the same stuff every release. And frankly I'm tired of paying over $100 for one game when you factor in all the DLC stuff.

I'm hoping VR is going to add a new element. We'll see. That could also be overhyped.

Grossly overhyped is pretty accurate to me. It's just not remarkable.

I honestly think it's like 'Pepsi, Coke, or Dr. Pepper' arguments.

They are all the same and different. If you don't like sodas they are all cloyingly sweet. And if you do, you probably have a favorite and aren't easily swayed. And this isn't a powerful sway.

Seriously, why do people still buy EA titles?  The last one I bought was C&C 4.  That title demonstrated beyond all doubt that EA isn't merely incompetent but is rather a Class 5 Manifestation of Evil.  Their actions since have only confirmed this.  Do people say, "Gosh it's fun to be sodomized by pure evil" when they buy an EA game?  It melts my brain this company is still in business.  Can someone explain EA in a way that doesn't scorch my soul?

I'm of the mind that FPS games are something you mature out of liking, eventually.

Well... Most people do, anyway.

Online only is not a selling point for me. While I've loved my X360, I've never paid for Live. I deal with other people at work, and don't really enjoy them. I want single player, and sometimes split screen coop. If you don't offer that, I'm out.

I see potential in online play, but it's just like tabletop RPGs: I don't have a group of friends to make it worthwhile.

Check out Hawken, it is in beta right now I believe but its on steam and its pretty sweet.  All mechs, not standard CoD gameplay with the option to hop in a mech.  Pretty sweet, some buddies of mine were playing it the other day and I thought this is what titanfall should have been. Got lots of types of mechs, and you can upgrade and even skin the mechs to look like other mechs.

I tried it. My isse was that you cannot upgrade mechs. Your only ability to change is to buy another mech for real $$. The unlock parts I could see were pure cosmetic only, and you had 2 weapon choices for primary and secondary.

Is that accurate? Because that's why I stopped playing. That and the gameplay itself was kinda blah. But mostly the whole 'want to play something different? Buy a new mech!' aspect. Because that's retarded. And makes EA DLC cash grabs look tame.

Aw. They pass on a chance to creatively mess with spawn campers. Like allowing spawn-camped players to immediately respawn right behind the spawn-sniper with a bad-ass weapon, or allowing spawn-camped players to come back as nigh-invincible super-soldiers, or have the spawn-sniper take the damage they inflict on other players or some combination of these.

It's a nice start to an ip, but I don't think it will be really it's best until Titanfall 2 or 3, once they iron out all the issues and expand the gameplay.

I don't know very much about the original lore. I just enjoy the gameplay. My favorites are the original for the SNES and MW4.

It's still in beta. They say that it's nearing the end of beta, though. It's out as an early access on Steam. It'll be a FTP game but right now if you pay for a in game "starter package" you'll also get early access and can play it right now. They're getting funds for development and getting fans to bug test for them, basically.

EA doesn't even make games anymore.

They make money by trolling their users.

I think that's their new business model.

And it's working.
