More of a hypothesis wasn't it?

If people won't believe the little lie, make a bigger one.

Small lie: Planned Parenthood is primarily about giving abortions.
Informed Opinion: Bullshiat
General Public: Not sure if Planned Parenthood does other stuff besides just abortion.

Bigger Lie:  Planned Parenthood wants to kill babies up to 3 months old.
Informed Opinion: Complete bullshiat.
General Public: I thinkPlanned Parenthood is primarily about giving abortions.

there really is something wrong with these people.

Planned Parenthood is the largest abortion preventer in the country.

Dusk-You-n-Me: Planned Parenthood is the largest abortion preventer in the country.

Indeed.  But many of the same people who want to reduce the number of abortions also oppose contraception.

From a business perspective, if I'm an insurance company I want free contraception all around.  Much, MUCH cheaper than the costs of a kid.

Every human being deserves life, liberty, and property.

This is a guy who sounds like he supports same-sex marriage.

/he doesn't

From the headline I thought he was going to be making the point of abortions in the first trimester as "killing a three month old baby" but no, he really meant three months after the kid has left the womb. Astounding. It's like they honestly believe that people go around desiring abortions, and want to see how long they can go before getting one.

I'm sure he also supports redistribution of wealth as a way of giving property to people, since its the right of every human being.

Everyone knows these assholes want all kids to reach the age of 18

/so they can be aborted in a war as God intended

That was not intended be a factual statement.

2014-03-12 12:59:26 PM
I think that some conservatives are so deranged that they want to start counting "age" from the time of conception, rather than birth.  So when they say "baby" that is 3 months old, they're really talking about a fetus up to the 2nd trimester.  It's more spin (pronounced "bold faced lies") to try to villainize their opposition by saying they want to "kill babies" instead of "terminate pregnancies".

To be fair, lying is acceptable when arguing for certain positions such as abortion opposition, gun control, creationism, opposing same-sex marriage or opposing health-care reform.

What irks me is that the party for whom this is SOP is also the party that can't stop repeating their accusations of Goebbels' "Big Lie" in play.  Just the other day, there was a Senator from OK using it regarding climate change: if we repeat the lie (that climate change is happening, he doesn't even qualify it as anthropogenic) enough times, people will believe it.

And yet so many of them just lie their f*cking asses off to generate talking points that become policy.

Babies are not born alive during abortions, you morons.

2014-03-12 01:08:17 PM
Abortions should only be legal through the 7th trimester.

2014-03-12 01:08:30 PM
Well, to be fair, the guy believes that babies begin at the moment of conception, not their birthday.

Wow... just wow.

When I was married, my crazy ex-in-laws (super Catholic) would send me all this crazy shiat about Planned Parenthood and how EVIL it was.  I got sick of it, wrote a long list of all the things they do, and then noted that had I not been able to go to Planned Parenthood when I was in my 20s and had  no insurance and a crappy underpaying job I'd probably be dead of cancer that they diagnosed and treated for something like $40. And that many, many women (and even some men) can credit their fee structure for saving their lives from everything from cancer to sexually transmitted diseases.

I doubt their minds were changed much, but they had no idea that they did ANYTHING there but give abortions and birth control (which they are against).  Then again, my former sister in law's wedding gift to us was a cassette tape about sex for procreation (yeah... to me.)

Those were some of the worst years of my life.

In China, that's how they count age, though they just round you up to 1 whenever you pop out.

I'm a dude, and Planned Parenthood was one of the only places that would help me out when I was un-insured and needed a medical exam.  They rock the house.

Also, glad to hear you've moved on and I hope you remain cancer free.

On the advice of a physician, other abortions should be legal (and are legal) until birth.

Haha... no worries. It's a long, bizarre story how I ended up married to that guy, but let's just say that if I'd not had two back to back traumatic events happen less than a year before I married him (and 4 months prior to agreeing to marry him) I would never have gone through with it.  I actually thought he was kidding when he first told me he was a Jesus freak - seeing as we met when I saw his band playing and he seemed like a normal drunk punk rock degenerate that I'm used to hanging out with.  Wrong.  Not only did his family harass me with anti-Planned Parenthood, anti-gay marriage, and all the typical insane things that the religious right believe (I never saw so many bad FWD: FWD: FWD: chains in my email in my life), but they prayed. A lot. And at the end, would cheer, "hip-hip-hooray" three times.

Not to sound like a snobby atheist, but... it does sort of make sense that people who believe the Bible is a literal account of events that actually happened are generally going to be pretty easy to lie to about things like what Planned Parenthood does. Even if you show them a Planned Parenthood Web site, AND show them that there are many Planned Parenthoods that don't even provide abortion services at all. Because they can easily be lied to, and tend to discard facts.

2014-03-12 01:29:00 PM
If you read the book of Joshua, abortions after birth are not only A-OK, but in some cases commanded or even carried out by God Himself.

Well they are if you can assume that the cities of Sodom, Gomorrah, Jericho, Ai, Hazor all contained at least one pregnant woman at the time when they were destroyed by Matt Damon or put to the sword by the Israelites.  Which I think is a fairly safe assumption.

It was an audio cassette tape. I honestly have no idea what the contents of said tape were, as I got married in 2009, long after anyone I know still had a cassette player.

Why is that confusing.  Typically you show damages in a libel lawsuit by either pain or suffering or in loss of salary of profit.  It was honest question, how does an non-profit organization demonstrate damages or is it strictly punitive damages?

Surely an organization could use revenues instead of profits to show damages.

Ummm, if you have 7 trimesters during your pregnancy, you don't need the advice of the physician you're currently seeing, you need a BETTER physician, like someone who have a degree in obstetrics.
