This is the same idiot who dropped his gun on the floor during a committee meeting - he sits on the Criminal Justice and PUBLIC SAFETY Committee - and then blamed it on donating blood and "feeling loopy".

Which is exactly the type of person I want carrying a gun everywhere, and exactly the type of person fit to serve on a public safety committee.

// he should probably slam his face into the sidewalk until it (the sidewalk) asks him to stop

Bloody William: Millennium: You know, even when I don't think a joke is funny, I can usually at least figure out the line of thought that led to someone trying to tell it as a joke. This one, I can't follow at all. I saw the pic -I get the "eating" reference, though not the "plain" part- but what does one clause even have to do with the other? Why would the number make any difference? Is this a joke, or a political statement, or a word salad?

It is a play on the word "battered," having a dual meaning of a treatment for food and a victim of domestic violence. 50,000 puts it into context of the number of battered women... I'm guessing in the state, which furthers the contrast of those two terms.

It's a generally inappropriate play on words that, when worded and delivered correctly, can be amusing outside of mixed company, but when you're a lawmaker who has to deal with that very problem, half of your constituents are women, and you're calling attention to the fact that the number of abused women in your state is three times larger than the population of my hometown, It is grossly inappropriate. It's like how some "dead baby" jokes can be stupid but amusing, but you don't farking tell them to anyone who actually lost a baby, and you don't tell them when making policy on prenatal care availability.

In other words:   Context matters.

This is the part that Republicans don't understand.  In any thread like this, you can bet that the Republican in question and those who white knight him/her have no idea what context means or why it is important.

Maybe you should adjust your purple skirt, hitch up your garter belt, and accept that some jokes are inappropriate based on the context of who says them, to whom they're directed, and how the joke-teller actually affects the subject of the joke as a policy-maker. If you have time to tampon-up in between looting stores when the lights go out and doing crack on the street while beating up white kids.

/And how did that make you feel?

He likes to give oral sex to women after he beats them is the implication. Your inability to fully comprehend it does not make it acceptable.

No. The joke (regardless who tells it) isn't that someone beats a woman before oral sex. The joke is funny because the teller mistakes battered for being fried. It's silly, It's sexy, and plays on  teller being a bit ignorant.  It's offensive because we're not supposed to laugh at anything involving domestic abuse and implies the teller may be indifferent to such a reprhensable act.. The joke doesn't imply  the teller actually prefers to beat woman.

/jokes suck when you have to explain why they are funny.

I'm still trying to understand why "plain" is the opposite of "battered".

Because... its plain? There ain't no batter on it, man.

I could understand a gay or female or non-white or non-christian person being republican, and saying something like "Yeah, they're against most everything I am, but I like their fiscal positions and conservative economic ideas".  But the GOP is in no way fiscally conservative.  They don't even have that any more, so what reason do gays, women, et. al. have to back the GOP?  Is it ONLY abortion and guns?

Going to have to disagree here. I don't think that is the implication. It is a play on the word battered and it's two meanings. It is unacceptable but, in my opinion, claiming the implication is "I like to beat my women before performing oral sex on them" is a huge reach.

It is a dumb joke and given the myriad of dumb things Republicans have said he is an idiot for posting it because the least offensive interpretation of it makes light of the fact that women are physically abused.

There are groups of people for whom speaking in Dr. Seuss styled nursery rhyme is the only speed that resonates with them.

Ask Ted Cruz and Sarah Palin.  They've both tried it.  When they used big words and reasoning, STONEFACE.  Bust out the rhyming ad hominems, applause.

You sounds like you don't hit the bar scene much. Especially dives at the bowling alley bar (cheapest beer, actually). Last place I loved was in a dungeon / basement with a cooler behind the bar filled with local pepperoni / cheese, a totally unhittable and foulmouthed waitress / barmaiden, and the cheapest beer money could buy from the keg.

No it's not a perfect example.  On one hand you have a "redneck" comedian and on the other a State Representitive.   No amount of "I'm sorry" should be enough he should be let go of his position.  When you are in a position of power like that you can not post shiat like that on your wall.   I'm sure we'll get the old "I was hacked" excuse.
