Now, there are local yokels claiming Jerry was innocent and clamoring for a re-trial, as one of his lawyers is being disbarred.  The comments left by people in the local paper's comment section on their webpage is a cross between "hilariously sad" and "You can't honestly believe that, can you?".  It's not helping that an outgoing PSU Board Member has publicly stated that rushing the firing Joe Paterno was the worst mistake he ever made as a trustee and hiring Freeh was the second.

Yeah, the NCAA should have nuked Penn State's football program. That area needs years of being completely irrelevant, save for the crimes they've denied and tried to conceal.

I saw that interview on the Today show this morning. To say that woman denial is an insult to the river in Egypt.  She's completely deluded, and her loudmouth lawyer isn't helping. When Sandusky's request for new trial and appeals are denied, she's going to be flabbergasted.

One of the lawyers is being disbarred? Please tell me it was the "he was trying to teach the boys how to shower properly" one.

Sandusky needs to quietly expire in prison. She needs to resign herself to the fact that she either unknowingly supported a molester and rapist, or that she knowingly supported a molester and rapist. In either situation, the best thing she can do at this point is divorce him, shut her friggin' mouth, and move on, hoping and praying that the rest of the world forgets that she was related to the Sandusky crimes.

I'd really like to see what the Feds come up with in regards to JoePa's businesses and how they are intermingled with the financial interests of the Penn state administrators. I remember there was some pretty good investigative journalism happening during the Sandusky trial, but I was hoping a Federal investigation would reveal more.

I have a cousin who went to Penn State, and is willfully ignorant of JoePa's involvement. He literally refused to read either grand jury report or the Freah report. There's supporting your school, and then there's being a cult member.

There's a lot that doesn't surprise me in the grand scheme of "because football."

Football over academics?  Not surprising.  Hell, if there's one thing I learned the hard way as a straight-A student, it's that being smart in real life might actually be a detriment more than a help because you're better able to understand how stupid everyone else is and just end up depressed.

Football player over girl who says he had his way with her at a party?  Not surprising.  People only care about what matters to them.  Whether or not the team wins?  If you've invested a lot of money in season tickets (plus the "mandatory donation"), then you want the star RB out there.  Some girl at a party?  People probably don't care.  Heck, they'd probably offer up their daughter if they thought it'd get the back an extra 25 yards.

But this is one of those ones where I say, "Really?"  You can excuse this and take Paterno's ...  anyone's side who allows something this sick to go on?  I mean, we're not talking just sex.  We're talking about  forcing sex on small children.  Kids who may not even know whether they're straight or gay or what even is going on yet.  Ruining these kids, not just mentally but perhaps physically.

Sorry, but there's no amount of "because football" in my mind that goes that far.  But, apparently, in State College, Pa., there is.

This was around 1988, so many years before any of the early incidents with him.

His family went to our church and were very popular in the community. This was in the early years of his Second Mile foundation. I went to high school with three of his kids (but not the one who accused him of molestation), and they were all pretty cool as well. Absolutely no indications of the monster he was to become

See I disagree.  I think blame should be assessed where blame is deserved.  I don't think PSU nor the football program should be destroyed any more than I think Hollywood should be burned to the ground for Roman Polanski or the Principal from Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

Sandusky was tried and found guilty.  Punish his ass (pun intended).  Get the other 3 into trial already (President, Athletic Director, and VP in charge of the Police Force).  It's been over 2 years already.  Enough with the continuances and start the damn trials.

I'd like to see the Trustees at the time face some questions as well.  But stop advocating the punishment of many for the crimes of few.  Nothing good comes of that.  Witchhunts or Tar And Feathering doesn't solve anything.
