Bill O is an idiot. Can't explain that.

We're a divided nation which talking points believes is in decline.

Talking points is an idiot, too.

the two ferns interview was a lot more sensible than the o'reilly one

Like you f*cking know Abe Lincoln, Bill. Sucking his spiritual cock aside, did you ever meet the man? Did you ever trade your half wits for his?

Seriously though, do you happen to know anything about him? Lincoln was reported to actually have a very good sense of humor. So I would not be surprised in the least if he would have appeared on Between Two Ferns, were he not a corpse.

Don't be all jealous because Zach Galifinakas asked harder questions of Obama than you did.

The play that Lincoln was attending when he was shot, Our American Cousin, is a very silly slap-sticky farce.

Re: O'Reilly's "Lincoln wouldn't have done it"? He told so many jokes--some off-color--that press critics assailed his lack of dignity.

He also wouldn't have given Bill O Reilly the time of day.

Lincoln would have suspended habeus corpus and placed all of Fox News behind bars.
Your move Obama

Abe Lincoln also probably didn't wear a cape during sex. That doesn't mean it isn't something everyone should do.

2014-03-12 04:06:26 AM
Well, Lincoln did choose "Die" instead of "Funny".

Why does Mr. Obama not have Marfan Syndrome?  Does he think himself too good for it?  We here at talking points would find such an attitude pretentious and presumptuous.

I don't see Zach Galifianakis' appeal.
How long has Obama had those veins on his temple? Has he gained telekinesis?

O'Reilly, like most Conservative pundits, is thoroughly pissed that he is nothing more than a Conservative pundit, and thinks he should be elected to public office without having to actually run.

BSABSVR: Well, Lincoln did choose "Die" instead of "Funny".

Too soon.

2014-03-12 04:41:47 AM
Well, he's got us there. They didn't even have Internet shows back then.

2014-03-12 04:43:35 AM

BSABSVR: Well, Lincoln did choose "Die" instead of "Funny".

But he also chose "Cake" over "Death," so it should have balanced out somehow.

I heard that 10 minutes before they started in on Obama appearing on Funny or Die, they were sucking McCain's dick about going on the Tonight Show or the Today show or some other stupid variety show and telling a joke. Ten minutes was all it took for them to change their mind about politicians telling jokes on comedy shows.

2014-03-12 05:00:11 AM
So Bill thinks Obama is a lot like Lincoln and that this is out of character for him because of that?

That's nice of you to say, Bill. I still think you're a dickhead, but it's nice that you think President Obama is on par with Lincoln despite his few apparent differences.

Yeah, but the Tonight Show has been around for 60 years (anniversary this year, in fact), so old people understand it.  This Internet thing is newfangled and really scary to all the old fogeys.

/never mind that Obama was the first sitting president to ever appear on the Tonight Show
//I bet they excoriated him for that too

I listened to a little of Obama's fake interview and it was pretty damn funny.

Asking what Lincoln would have done is like asking what Queen Victoria would look like in a bikini, there's just no context.

2014-03-12 05:28:07 AM
So, Bill O'Reilly's show isn't comedy?

2014-03-12 05:45:22 AM
See, the problem is with Fartbama's sense of humor.  The Two Ferns episode wasn't funny.  That joke President Bush told about looking for the missing WMD's in a Washington ballroom?  That's funny.  Making light of the reason you invaded a country is comedy gold.

Also too, did you ever see the way 0Bama eats crackers?

Bill should interview a fern.

Heh... Guess the fact that segment was reported as the number one link source to the federal health exchange yesterday is really chafing Billy's ass.

Not sure why they keep pushing the testing the president thing. Obama is the Killingest president since Eisenhower.

My Dear McClellan:

If you are not using the army, I should like to borrow it for a short while.

Yours respectfully,

Abraham Lincoln

Last time I saw a conservative interview the President, said conservative was talking to an empty chair.

You can't explain that.

The fern community frowns on your shenanigans.

"For a president under intense scrutiny to do a comedy show, raises some questions," O'Reilly observed. "First of all, I don't really have a problem with it in general: I think the timing hurts Mr. Obama, the economy continues to be problematic and Putin is clearly testing the president. It looks like Putin believes the president is a light weight, will a comedy video counter that?"

so to translate, "this is bad news....for Obama...."

What are *you* talking about, Willis?

2014-03-12 06:49:50 AM
The South learned one thing in the civil war: Actually leaving the union gets your ass kicked. Better to stay in the union and turn it into a meaningless impotent irrelevancy by spending years dragging it to the 'right'.

And Lincoln was one of the most pragmatic sons of biatches ever to hold the office. Of course he would have used every lever of power (and charm) he had available. This is a guy that routinely used humor to disarm people, and two suspended Habeas Corpus when he needed to.

2014-03-12 07:02:32 AM
This reaction was so predictable, someone really should have taken the opportunity to use it as a new international standard for time.

One wonders how many Republicans have any good thoughts about Abraham Lincoln in the first place.

Alphax: One wonders how many Republicans have any good thoughts about Abraham Lincoln in the first place.

Imprisoned members of the press, did what he wanted without much regard for congress, waged war on his own countrymen, what's not for a modern Republican to like?

Mostly because if C-Span had existed he would have an R next to his name. They treat politics like a sporting event and they want as many points on the board as possible so they simultaneously pander to the south and use Lincoln as another example of a great republican.

It's true.

Then again, Obama's been far more lenient with the Confederate states than Lincoln would have been.

And most of today's republican party would have been hanged for treason.

Those were the days.

I think President Obama finally "gets it".  There is absolutely nothing he can do that the political right will not criticize him for; even if it is exactly what they ask him to do.  So rather than wasting time trying to build more bridges the GOP which the GOP torches almost immediately, he is just doing what he feels needs to be done. Whether on this show to spread his message or signing executive orders to bypass the congressional obstructionists, he is actually trying to get stuff done.
