What austerity might look like.

/Yes, I know that it is an elephant seal.

You mean years of austerity lead to negative economic growth, strife, increasing disdain for taxes, and relatively little improvement in debt problems?

Yes.

IMF: Austerity is much worse for the economy than we thought

You'd think at some point the masterminds behind austerity would realize it's never, ever worked at any time it's been tried in the history of the universe.

I should add, it's never worked when it's been used to try to get a failing economy out of trouble.  When you apply austerity to an economy that's beginning to show signs of a bubble, it'll work to slow everything down.  Austerity is for putting the brakes on economic growth.

Like all voodoo economics, austerity requires that the subject believe in the cure. It's our own fault for not believing harder.

The IMF finally made it to the 1930s.

Does anybody bother to read TFA anymore? It has to do with training tax collectors how to deal with anger of people who all of a sudden actually have to pay taxes.

But anyway, continue with your knee-jerk anti-austerity whargarrblle. I'm sure Greece should just borrow their way out of debt.

Yeah, and they're dealing with people who are really sour on the tax increases, because austerity measures tend to bite people in trouble hardest.

Well, borrowing your way out of debt has never worked for the private sector. Oh wait...

What kind of authority?  Do you have some sort of certification board or something to back up your position?

Ah yes the good ol' "Greeks are all tax dodgers".
No. The Greek upper class is full of tax dodgers. The lower class is the people who are affected by austerity.
Taking an axe to a tax assessor is a wholly appropriate response. After all, it's in effect no different from what they do, other than being more dramatic.

What kind of walrus? A Rage Walrus like John Bolton or a mellow builder walrus like Jamie Hyneman?
