Now I kind of want to try a little Marmite on actual pizza.

2014-03-11 03:58:01 PM
Marmite.

Good lord.

The endtimes are near.

2014-03-11 04:45:57 PM
Ew. Dear god. I lived in Australia for a while, and Marmite is farking vile. To put it in a pizza is a crime against god.

When I first read the headline, I thought it said "marmot", which made me think that someone had wound up with a squirrel pizza.

I've never heard of Marmite, so I'll continue to think of squirrel-stuffed pizza.

I like Marmite, been eating it for years and years. Love it on toast.

But with pizza?

No.

Nononononono.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

Sorry... a little NSFW language on that Youtube link...

2014-03-11 05:13:45 PM
It's actually an improvement over what's usually in there.

2014-03-11 05:14:42 PM
Is it like Vegemite?

2014-03-11 05:16:37 PM
I'd try it. I might bitterly regret it, but it'd be worth braving once.

Ooooh... sounds yummy actually. Although from.what I recall New Zealand marmite is weaker than British marmite... not the same stuff... more like Vegemite.

Vidwiz: Is it like Vegemite?

Vegemite is marmite for pussies that can't handle the real thing.

Gag!

HORK!

It's like they sat down and thought of the worst thing they could do with a pizza.

Why don't they top it with that maggot infested cheese while they're at it.

2014-03-11 05:25:49 PM
Why would you do that?

My mom is from Australia.  She'd open that jar of Vegimite and dear lord... I think I can still smell it 900 miles away and 20 years later.

2014-03-11 05:28:51 PM
how about C4?  that'd be a blast

The farts must have been horrible.

I'd eat it. But then, I'd eat almost anything at least once.

This is marmite though not Vegemite. They taste and smell quite different.

Its like comparing bud light to champagne.

Both are alcohol... but one is crap and the other is good.

Stuffed crust ? Isn't that one of the four "Chicago style " pizzas ?

2014-03-11 05:35:15 PM
Auckland style pizza is better than Melbourne style pizza btw.

2014-03-11 05:40:52 PM
California style. More avacado and sprouts.

The trick to liking Marmite is to spread it as thinly and as sparingly onto toast as possible. It adds a savoury taste which is great with a cup of tea.  If you slather it on it tastes utterly revolting. I suspect people who label it vile or revolting went the second route.

I'm  not sure how it would work in a stuffed crust pizza but I suppose a very sparing hint of marmite in melted cheese might be okay. I think worcestershire sauce would work better though - a dash of that in cheese or tomato sauce would be awesome the way that Welsh rarebit is.

Fair enough.  Although at this point, I don't think I'll be trying either ;)

I agree. Champagne sucks.

I love marmite. spread it thin, it's lovely; spread it so thick it looks like road tar, even better. But in a pizza? Nah, you're alright

This morning I woke up and said to myself, "self... I sure could go for a pizza that tastes like a yeast infection." Thank you Pizza Slut.

Thermite. That's hot.

Kind of reminds me of mayonnaise then. It's good when used sparingly, but it can be gross if you overdo it.

Well I think I'd rather have a yeast infection tasting pizza than another one of Pizza Hut's quepapa's with a rubber tie cooked into it.  *sigh*  Never having those again.

Or, Vegemite is marmite that's actually an edible food stuff rather than axle grease.

Can't be that much worse than anchovies. Either way, still sounds vile.

Yeah. I'm with you. Toast and Marmite is great. But why in Gods name would you put it on pizza?
Pizza needs just three things on the crust: cheese, tomato sauce and a dead animal or two.
Just because a thing is good in one context it doesnt make it good in every context. What's next, Marmite milkshakes?

2014-03-11 06:05:39 PM
Pizza Hut sells some breaded crap covered with pizza like sauces and toppings but it is far from pizza.  Real pizza should drip.

I've always wanted to taste this stuff.  And just recently a friend was traveling thru Great Britain and France and all I asked for was a small container of the real deal truffle oil from France.  $20 doesn't get you much, but worth it.

2014-03-11 06:29:51 PM
I suppose it's just a matter of time before the Scottish Pizza Huts get haggis in their filled crusts.

2014-03-11 06:30:48 PM
Pizza Hut got the Facebook profile of me the banning from postings on the public pages so I am hoping this is yet the further failure of the company of they.
