You know what? I don't care if the books ever end. I really don't.

I've just enjoyed the ride and I love love love the world he created. I love it enough to read through the series so far three times.

The plot is secondary to me at this point.

What would Obama's arms be in Game of Thrones?

I'm guessing it would be a black guy killing a white guy for free healthcare on a field of commie red.

Not so much. Seasons one and two were darn near spot on. But three started to branch just a little bit.

Some, but I'd be surprised if the show strayed too far off the main road set out in the books.

Can we throw David Gerold in there first unless he finishes the Chtorr series?  That's been stuck longer than GoT

You think season 2 was spot on? Seriously are farking trolling? Eve people who never read the books think it sucked massively. The only one that I feel really got everything that mattered in there was season 1 and that was far and away the smallest story so it was probably much easier.

Not sure if serious.

Where do you feel season 2 deviated significantly from the book? And why do you think that people who thought that season 2 hewed pretty closely to book 2 are "farking trolling"?

Except that it basically falls off of a cliff at this point. It would be like watching the first 2 Hobbit movies and just stopping there. Doesn't matter though, Martin outsmarted himself when he signed the deal. He's almost out of time. The series will catch up with the books very soon, and he won't be able to drag it out for 7-8 years per book anymore.

Are you serious? Apart from there being TWO shadowbabies in the book and the show showing the wrong one killing Renly, and Robb marrying the wrong farking woman, there were plenty more.

Neither of those things affected the outcome of the plot and it isn't as though Robb's book wife is a major character.

Literally I could name unfortunate differences all night here. As far as what people thought go over to westeros.org or the citadel and ask people what they thought of season 2. I'm not sure how many users the citadel has but I know westeros has over two million. Go ahead ask trust me you're going to get about the same response as you will here linking to the free republic but without the even marginal attempts at moderation we get around here so yeah its not just me. Go on I'll wait.

Martin should have stuck with his plans to make it a trilogy of books.

At this point, the books have become the literary equivalent of Lost...he doesn't appear to have half a farking clue where he's going with this anymore.

Katolu: Call me a heretic but I got bored half way though his first book.

You're not a heretic.  I read the first book years ago, but for some reason it just didn't grip me enough to make me want to read the next one.   And while I tend to prefer books to screen adaptions, I didn't pick up the books again until after a friend got me into the TV series.  Different people just have different tastes.

Now I've read all the books, and am in story limbo while GRRM tries to tie it all up (which I can't imagine happening in less than 3 books).  I'm thinking about the Dunk and Egg series next, but the stories seem to be spread out across anthologies.

Baryogenesis: it isn't as though Robb's book wife is a major character.

it's a major plot point since her family were Lannister bannermen and her mother was implicated in the conspiracy to kill Robb. But you're right, it didn't affect any cool action, gratuitous sex, or dragon scenes so no big loss for the TV audience.

Are you one of those people that is angry about Peter Jackson leaving Tom Bombadil out of "The Fellowship of the Ring"? Movie adaptations are just that: adaptations. Their goal isn't to simply act out the book as written scene for scene. As long as the final product maintains the same central characters and plot and it's entertaining, what's the problem?

All available on kindle and worth the read if you like the ASOIAF books. They paint a very different picture and give some historical perspective on the events of the novels.

I didn't say they didn't do the job. But his contention is that season was a reasonable representation of the second book and there are literally dozens of verifiable differences. They got from point a to point be but yeah it still sucked like really bad. A lot of the shiat they cut would've helped. They really should have made a season and a half for 2 & 3. We could get more of Clash and we wouldn't have to watch all the crappy Theon's weenie and Khaleesi meets action Ken Doll filler scenes.

Don't be surprised when the next two books, AFFC and ADWD are combined and split into 3 seasons...it makes total sense.  It gives martin more time to finish writing and doesn't totally cut off the SUPER POPULAR characters that martin left completely out of AFFC...

Did I assert that the two were exactly identical? No, I asked where you (not westeros.org) thought season 2 deviated significantly from book 2. I'm not impressed by nitpicked laundry list of completely inconsequential differences.

In any case, you seriously need to simmer down.
