I'm a Red Wings fan and thus a sworn enemy of all things Avalanche but this...whatever this is...is so embarrassing I can't even take pleasure in it.

May God have mercy on you, because no one else will.

Wait, how are they the "New Nickelback?"  Nickelback's biggest problem was their copypasta of their own bad formula.  Imagine Dragons is still on their major debut.

A Nickelback comparison is not something to just toss around, subby.

Nickelback: "Look at this photograph"

Imagine Dragons: "Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh, whoa, oh, oh, oh, I'm radioactive, radioactive"

Both are shiat lyrics from bland and overplayed FM radio hits. If the shoe fits...

Wow, that's PhD level research, there.  If nonsense words were enough to damn every artist to the dustbin of history then they'd be in fine company like Van Morrison, the Beatles, et cetera.

Would you like the rest of the lyrics to that song? Or do you like generic arena-anthems that Lebron listens to in his Beats by Dre™ headphones while dunking on imaginary opponents?

Yeah, whoa, slow the hell down there derpmitter.  You have to do A LOT worse than Imagine Dragons to start approaching Nickleback territory.  They have three hits off their debut album and none of them sound alike.  I'm not saying they're especially good, and that the band won't fade away after a brief period of initial success, but they have a long way to go before that kind of comparison becomes warranted.

Nickelback claims to be a rock band.

No one says that about Imagine Dragons, do they?

Man, I was really hoping this wouldn't find its way to Fark. Or anywhere else, for that matter.

It's just embarrassing. So awkward. Bad marketing at its finest. I mean, if it were just the song dubbed over gameplay clips, fine. A bit cliché, and the song gets on my nerves, but at least the refrain of "welcome to the new age" is fitting for what the Avs are doing. Not really sure how the radioactive part fits in. Maybe because after all the collective x-rays over the past 3-4 years the entire team is glowing? But no, they had to have players lip-syncing and looking moody. Which would only work if they were playing it for laughs. Which, sadly, they are not.

As an Avs fan I apologize. We're better than this. Honest.

Pump the brakes.  Imagine Dragons are utterly disposable and that song is completely obnoxious, but you can't just throw them into a pile with Nickelback.

It takes me at least 5 seconds to turn "Radioactive" off if it comes on, I have smash my head into a wall if Nickelback comes on.

How about I change tacks, instead of having an argument about subjectives.  Nickelback is the gold standard for bad rock not because of one song, but because of many albums of phoned-in schlock.  A still-new band cannot be the "New Nickelback" until their badness has proven staying power.

So two more hit albums of the same from Imagine Dragons and they'll be eligible.  Until then, you could call them "New 3 Doors Down."

Except the Beatles innovated and created trends in music, versus a schlocky group cramming every current musical trend into its boring and uninspired songs.

There are standards being thrown at rock music? It may shock you, but there are good and bad lyrics for all types of music. If you haven't heard an "urban" (always gives me a chuckle) song that has some intelligent or well put-together lyrics you're biased. Not that that's wrong since what is good in music is completely subjective.

Imagine Dragon's album is half decent.  After about track 5 it goes off the rails into nothingness.

Nothing great in there, but a few 'ok' songs.

I dunno about "intelligent or well put together", but I'm a big Sicknature fan. That one is good and When Nature Strikes is amazing IMHO.

I like the NHL a lot and all, but, good grief; you can't get a much whiter thread than something about hockey and Imagine Dragons.

1) That was horrible and whomever put them up to that should be fired.

2) Subby, let's wait on the Nickelcrap comparisons until at least the 2nd album. Yes, both bands have some halfway decent songs on their 1st album, but at least Imagine Dragons have shown they can write more than 1 melody.

My kids love Radioactive and sing it all the time when it comes on in the car. I think it's great. They could be Beliebers at their age.

Thanks, Subby. Now I can avoid Imagine Dragons at all costs more so than I did before.

I remember when they used this song in the trailers for Assassin's Creed THREE.  AC4 is already on the discount shelf.  No exactly a timely slice of pop culture, PR Guy.

While I'll agree that "Radioactive" is overplayed, I kind-of liked it at first. I think the best ever use of it was when ESPN did a short piece on JaMarcus Russell attempting to make a comeback. The song fit nicely the theme of trying to make a comeback and him being absolutely toxic the first time around.

This is crap. The band is meh, nowhere near as bad as Nickelback but not great. This song is meh. This video is garbage.

I was at an event last night before the Avs game with a few of their marketing guys and they were actually proud of this. They kept going on about how great of an idea it was during their presentation. Their marketing team has forever sucked.

Imagine Dragons is barely Rebecca Black in scope.  Hell, they'd need another album of suck just to get to Creed level.

And yes, we know that's why you do it, even if you don't.

Does anyone want to change the subject to what the GMs are going to suggest for rule changes?

- Switch ends for OT (long change!)
- Reduce pre-faceoff jostling and congestion by expanding the faceoff circle hashmarks from 3 ft to 5 ft (matching the international/Olympic rule)
- Instead of a player getting kicked out of the faceoff, any pre-faceoff foul forces the violating player back 12-18 inches for the 2nd attempt
