(CNN)   Medical marijuana has an 'entourage effect,' which I'm guessing means it gets less and less interesting until you just give up and abandon it altogether   (edition.cnn.com) divider line 23

It means you see nothing but turtles and drama for weeks at a time. Like living in a Florida trailer park.

Take the case of Marinol, which is pure, synthetic THC. When the drug became available in the mid-1980s, scientists thought it would have the same effect as the whole cannabis plant. But it soon became clear that most patients preferred smoking marijuana to taking Marinol.

Marijuana is bad for you. So we created a synthetic version, removed everything beneficial about it, patented it, put it in pill form, and now sell it to you for an insane amount of money!

Yay!

Wolf892: I work in a halfway home for paroled ex cons... Recently one was granted permission to get a medical marijuana prescription and smoke joints away from the house.

Strangely enough this guy suddenly had a lot more of the house residents hanging out with him when he went outside. He also started teaching the other residents how to do the paperwork and what to say to the doctors to get prescriptions...

The residents now call the house "Thug Mansion" and we've got 4 guys on the medical Mary Jane...

I am not a fan of pot or the fact that now three to five times a day I have to give it to guys wit "knee pain" so they can get high and relive the joy of killing their wives...

Yea it's so sad that pot made them kill their wives.

Wait, wut?

I think there's something to be said for the rituals and activity associated with it all too... I love coming home and rollling up a spliff or a doobie or if I've really had a long day, firing up the JBD bong.

I start to feel relaxed and calmer as soon as I engage in this daily routine and I don't think taking a pill would ever have that same impact regardless of how effective its active ingredients are.

Well we should probably ban it then if someone you don't like has access to it.

Why people like you go into social services is puzzling.

Funny thing about weekends when you're unemployed. They don't quite mean so much, except you get to hang out with all youur working friends.

So no innocent person ever went to prison, right? Naww, that'd NEVER happen in our justice system...

That leading comment aside, I'd want to get high as balls too if I was living in a halfway house with you, bro. "Criminal" is now equal to the word "negro" circa-1890: We take your rights, your housing, your job, and of course it's your fault when you can't get back on your feet after all of the bureaucratic chains we've applied.

/end rant
(Sry gents, these new "Jim Crowe" attitudes piss me off)

this is how medicine used to work, we had plants and they had medicinal value. then we isolated the "good stuff" and all hell broke lose. why not just go back to letting people use plants as medicine? not just weed either opium is probably as good of an example of this entourage effect(I know it was a TV show some years back but I"m actually referring to the article...). instead of giving some one raw opium to eat or smoke(why not if they're really hurting) they give them Isolated compounds and then find out they don't work that well by themselves and then move on to synthetic "opioids" beacuse nature didn't work and before long you have another cash cow for big pharma. also there is no conspiracy here we are just stupid and have decided to brainwash ourselves, now would be a good time to stop that bs and go back to nature for the answers.
